The big ones were already covered, but to reiterate:
-Debt. Do not let yourself get into 'bad' debt. i.e. credit card debt. I learned the hard way and had to claw my way out of several thousand dollars in credit card debt. Learn this simple rule: if you do not have the cash in your wallet, wait until you do before you buy that toy (Ipod, computer, tv, whatever).
-Food. Right around 25, you will find that your body is starting to slow down. You can't eat whatever you want anymore because your gut will start to grow.
-Women. If you want to get married, find a woman you are best friends with. When kids come along, you want someone who is going to be a good mother. Pay attention to how they act around children.
-Family. As you age, so are your loved ones. Before you know it, you are attending funerals for parents and grandparents. Take a minute to call them today.
-Do not drink and drive. This one is hard, so let me say it again. DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE.
-Amendment to the above: DO NOT GET IN A CAR WITH SOMEONE WHO IS DRUNK.
-Quit smoking right now.
-And finally, get off the computer once in awhile. You kids are so wired in with computers, ipods, cellphones, etc that you seem to be trying to live up to a perception you think others have of you, rather than being yourself. Try not to let this new media influence you too much...form your own opinions based on your own research and experience.

I'm 30, so here it goes:
All of these have been said before, but I'm just confirming their importance for a good life:
Study. Don't give up your studies for any reason, no matter what it is.
Stay debt-free. Very important.
...and the last one:
Forget worrying about what other people think. Don't try to pretend something you're not.**B.M.B.C**

I forgot something:
Listen to 80's music and watch 80's movies. Everything now is a regurgitation of something that was created 25 years ago.
EDIT: Did not read thread title: accept this as one piece of general advice.Last edited by NBer; 05-10-2010 at 05:06 AM.

Disregard females, acquire currency. <srs> Also live with your parents until you can put at least 50% down on a house. Since it's too late, you probably shouldn't have gone to college. There are many trade schools and job training that are far quicker and cheaper than college. I've never heard of a skilled welder who can't get a job. Dave Ramsey (watch him) said most of his IT staff haven't been to college, just certification classes.

I stayed single until my mid-30s and I was getting pretty bored. It's boring to be in these "dating relationships" and very boring to be alone. However, I would never be in a relationship where some woman is bossing me around and would rather be single.
Firstly, I have very good behavior and don't need to be directed by anyone. However, women who see this but need to direct anyway, will adjust their complaints and find things wrong with you anyway. I don't need their company of sex so badly as to put up with that. Thankfully, I found a wife who likes me and leaves me alone, in a positive way, for the most part.
So, my point is that getting married is great if she's really your friend and not someone acting against you because of some bizarre oppositional need. Also, if you're oppositional and are going to do a bunch of stuff to drive your wife insane, then why get married?
Also, the children thing is a big issue. I still look young due to clean living, but I'm not really and I don't want to have kids because I don't want to die and leave some young person without support. Also, I want peace in my life and the time to pursue my interests, so I don't want kids. I have many hobbies and enjoy them fully.
This is a big issue for women and they may want to have a kid even if they really don't care that much. To see this in action is to see a type of insanity. A woman will want a kid like it's a new purse or something, which she will soon put on the shelf. Only in kid terms that means that she will place the baby in daycare, return to work, mildly resent the kid, and you'll get to watch it all and worry about it forever. If you're up for that or better yet, a traditional family, then you should go for it.
Back to the point, being married is nice if she's you're friend and you want the same things, if not then it should be avoided.

I remember that song. It's awesome and it always gives me chills. I actually have started wearing sunscreen on my face lol
I'm young...21...but my advice to my fellow brothers is to concentrate on your education (if you're in college). STOP wasting time and money and think hard on what you want to do. I have friends who are still technically freshmen because they've changed their majors so much. You want to graduate on time or even early.
Since 18 I've worked hard to go where I wanted to go. Now I'm in grad school and will be a pharmacist at the age of 24 making lots of money and helping people.
But at the same time, have a little fun. I still party and enjoy my youth.
Oh and be smart with money. Stop wasting it on stuff that won't matter in 3 years when your tastes change.
Disregard women....you know the deal.

Good luck bro. Which SOP? Oh and pharm school is hella tough so make sure you're studying hardcore from day one.
Here's another piece of advice: Learn to dress well. Have a sense of style, but it needs to be timeless and classic. Read up, there are lots of articles and websites out there on mens fashion. Invest in your appearance and people will take you more seriously, especially with women and professional relationships (first hand experience). I don't want to look back at my college years and regret wearing flip flops and cargo shorts to a funeral...yes I've seen it.
