you could weld small plates to the wheel, or drill and bolt them. i'd put one on each side of the wheel.

that's what i'm going to do, but i'll use some cheap compression collars for the inside (to hold the plates/tires from coming in on your hands. i've actually got that set up, just not the tires.

Brutus I'm making some sandbags as soon as my duffel comes in mail

Also I have a question about the "concrete sled" link which is broken

I made a nice wood one today but 6 ft and it scraped my driveway up. Continued use and it'll destroy my nice cement

Does the tire one scratch up cement? I wouldn't think it would unless little pebbles got caught in the rubber. Just wondering from those whwho hhave a tire sled goi g on their driveways. Thanks

    Hi,
I'm a bit confused( was checking email just before heading to bed and wanted to reply )

post a picture or a link please.

You made a " wood sled " ? plain wood shouldn't scrape up a driveway UNLESS you forgot to countersink any SCREWS or BOLTS on the bootom

I drag a log maybe 200 lb on my driveway soit wont dig into the grass and jam up .

if yuo have a cement driveway, there shouldnt be any loose pebbles from it. If so yuo might need to reseal it .

my tires are basicly scraped up from wear and tear but no damage to driveway.

post picturesd or a video ,. i dont understand why plain wood would do any damage.

My 4 x 4 pressure treated farmer walkers have been dropped countless times in the last 15 months or so ofm y new driveway.

Hey thanks for response, its not the wood that's actually scratching it. Its small grains of dust/sand that gets caught in the wood and then I've got rocks rubbing on cement and its making small grooves.

Here's a picture (that's the bottom, its only therear piece of 2x6 that's the issue. I took it off and still have small pebbles getting caught in wood) (I did counter sink screws .25 inch) and also swept and compressed air blew the **** outa my driveway but the damn things still picking up pebbles

Btw I live in a ddesert so there's always dust and **** blowing around. I'm hoping that the same little pebbles dobt get caught in a rubber tire but I have a ffeeling they will

Last thing all ttry is take the other 2x6 off so the contact points with cement are distributed more evenly I guess its worth a try

TONSSSSSSSSSSS of exercises . yuo use the sandbag instead of a barbell .

You can cut ( if yuo can ) 2x4;s and put them inside the tire parrelle with SCREWS on the outside of the tire down into the wood .
then take another 2 x 4 for more support and connnect then with 90 degree angle brackets.
ONLY the tire makes contact with the ground

also get a U bolt and drill 2 holes into the tire and put a smaller 2x4 insidfe the tire . THE bracket WONT break off .

Anyone ever made their own weight vest? I really want get one that weighs around 80-100lbs, but the cost is unreal. For a 100# one, you're looking at $300 + shipping. Im trying to find a vest pattern that I could make or have made. Im just not sure what materials to use, or what to use for the weights.

The cost is unreal because there's a whole lotta pockets!

But serious I havebt tried it up I believe your best bet would be metal plates sewn in pockets on front and back. Its gunna be super tricky to get the thing weighted correctly so it feels natural and doesnt kill the shoulders

I actually have a pretty good idea for this, minus fabric, but you are correct in that it might be difficult to get it weighted correctly. Scuba weights are fairly cheap and come in a variety of sizes. They are made in 1-10 lb sizes, or you can make your own, or you can figure out another weight to incorporate lead shot in the vest. Then just figure out how many pockets will distribute it evenly, find a vest that fits, take it to a tailor (in all honest, no racist, you can probably find an asian housewife that does it as a side-job no matter where you live for super cheap) with a much more sturdy fabric and rough blueprint. Weight vests with 10 lbs pre-made look like they are about $40. Lead shot or scuba weights with lead shot are about $2/lb, so I would imagine you could save about $50-100 by making your own.

    Maybe just go with chains?

I bought a cheap WV and it tends to try to slip in the front and slap you in the nuts with a bag of lead shot. Not the best way to improve your vertical.

I'm wondering if you couldn't just sew loops onto a vest of heavy material (possibly the vest from a Canadian Tuxedo - denim) and run heavy chains through, then link or buckle the chains.

You might need to have two layers - one to support the weight and one to go over the top to keep things from flapping.

You could probably do the same thing with long, thin sand bags - or even a large diameter hose full of sand or gravel (I'm thinking firehose).

I'm wondering if you can use actual skis - you can find old snow skis or even water skis for free sometimes on Craig's List.

I know the thrift stores in CO were crawling with old snow skis for next to nothing and we saw them on the curb for free all the time.

I'd bet you could make something pretty effective for grass and sand with little or no trouble - for asphalt you'd have to use ski or surfboard wax alot, but I think it would work if you were scrupulous about keeping wax or bar soap on the bottom of the ski.

Even old skateboard decks might work, if you were willing to coat them well.

I'm way into the DIY stuff and one project I've been tossing around in my mind is a plywood flat-bottom boat, almost jon-boat style, but double ended (same front and back).

For a lot of those flat bottoms, they put runners along the length of the bottom in case you ground or hit rocks - now this thread has got me thinking that I could make a scale model of the boat for my kids AND make it suitible for pulling/pushing.

Just a few attachments and I could dog sled the kids all over the place.

55 Gal Plastic Barrels on CL in my area, what can you use them for?

I'm thinking really big kegs or put a swivel in each end and connect them with a rope yoke for a pulling implement.

    Other ideas?
