I built this reverse hyper extension for my power rack. All the materials were stuff I had in my work shop, so, no cost , just some time. The pad is a preacher curl pad I had and works perfectly. I started to put handles on it , but instead, it works fine holding onto the rack uprights. The pendulum is mounted with pillowblock bearings and is extremely smooth. It sits on top of the safeties , so it's easy and quick to set up .

Can't believe I missed this! The way the pendulum swings to the front instead of the side solves a space problem for my crowded she'd gym. Now that I've seen it, seems so obvious.

Great thread! After I have enough posts I will attach photos of my home-built safety chains and pulley system. And yes, I did buy the cables and pulley from McMaster-Carr. To make it extremely smooth though, I added a larger-diameter furniture glide from Home Depot on each side of the pulley.
