As many of you know I walked away from competitive bodybuilding for 4 years in order to finish my PhD and get married. In that time I also started a successful consultation business (successful beyond anything I could have imagined) and dealt with a bad pectoral tear that really shut me down for a while. Well I am graduating in 14 days with my PhD in Nutritional Sciences and so 4 years after I earned my pro card, I begin prep for fall Natural Pro Shows.
Please do not ask me what shows I am doing I will not be announcing those until the time gets closer. I need to make sure a few things fall into place until I can finalize specific shows, but I assure you that I will give everyone plenty of notice. We plan to also film the follow up DVD to Unleashed to follow my journey to my Natural Pro Shows. So for anyone who has bought Unleashed, you know that this will be a sick DVD. Most likely it won't be out til Mid-2011, but it will be worth the wait!
Now as for me. When I was at the peak of my 'bulk' I was at 231 lbs (I hit 235 once but didn't maintain it for long, I was 231-232 consistently for some time though).
I taped out at the following
-57" shoulders
-36" waist
-16.8" calves
-28" thighs (at biggest part)
-18/18.5" arms (right is half an inch smaller)
Here are pictures of me at the peak of my bulk (I believe I was 230 this day)
So hopefully that gives you an idea of where I was at.
I really want to use this thread to document my journey and while I appreciate the support I received on my old thread, by the end it was basically a Q&A. I spent so much time answering questions, I basically had no time to post anything of my own, so I would appreciate it if this thread does not turn into a Q&A and I hope you guys understand. I don't mind some questions relating to my prep and such. But this is not the place to ask "hey bro, what do you think of cell mass"
I hope to prove everyone who believed in me right, and prove everyone who didn't believe in me wrong.

I have been dieting for a few weeks now and today weighed in at 223.6 lbs
This is by far the leanest I've ever been at this weight. I am very excited to step onstage. Winning and losing is secondary to me coming in at my all time best and when I step onstage people say "holy ****!" I'll let placings take care of themselves.

Watching your success in this sport has been very motivating for me. You're constantly trying to improve the sport of natural bodybuilding and a journal like this is a prime example. This should be EPIC! Cant wait to see whats in store. Ill be following, for sure man!
BTW, I did not think you were so lean for 220-230. You should be looking pretty dang solid on stage. 4 yrs off is a goooood chunk of time to add some serious mass."Who the Son sets free is free indeed....."

Wow. This is going to be so EPIC.
Can't tell you how exciting it is to see you logging your prep like one of us "normies" over here in the CP section!
I'm sure a lot of the regulars around here will be happy to answer or redirect any "cell mass" type questions that find there way in your thread so we can keep it tidy and on track.
Good luck Layne!

How is the pec tear coming along? Fully healed; or you currently working around it?
Best of luck!
