lol @ people saying not to count "mixed" liquids.
Yes, when you mix water with anything else the body then stores this liquid in the "mixed" tank in your body and stores the "clean" water in a separate tank.

Correct
The only time you should drink 2 gallons is if you have been working out or doing physical work. If your just sitting and walking around 2 gallons will do much more damage then good. People have died from drinking too much water. If your going to drink alot, spread it out, dont try to chug half a gallon to meet a quota, thats just stupid

You should only be worrying about your caffeine intake.
100-450 from the tea.
350-500+ from the coffee
450-950+ if taken every day (or 5 days/week at work) for long periods is really excessive. Heck, the high end of that range is too much even if taken just for a short period.Latest Reviews:

hmm so other than making me do stupid things faster with more energy in the mornings, and making fat burners nothing different than jellybeans for my body what else it does?
I was also worried before about it for any liver or kidney damage, and made my researches
I found out caffeine is actually good for both. (I didnt do any scientific experiments nor I am a scientist but I searched the web for 1 week and I found nothing bad about it if not good?

then then we are basically in agreement. I don't think a 170 pound rather sedentary man (or even who is somewhat active) needs be throwing down water until he is sick to his stomach.
I for instance wouldn't even tell my 220 pound 6'4" dad whose only activity is walking 1.5 miles a day he needs to drink a gallon of water.
But who is mostly on these boards? I was on them when i was in high school during two a days for football, running track, playing basketball, I was on them when I ran track in college and now when i am prepping for shows. My days as far back as I can remember have been filled with athletics, hard training, and long 15+ hour days. I think many on here are like that. And the general guidline of you should drink 1 to 2 gallons of water a day isn't far fetched or bad advice.
Plus that is such a general rule and a wide variance...I mean let's break that down even further...1 to 2 gallons. That is like saying to someone do 10 to 20 hours of cardio each week it is so stupidly generall. Is 10 to little 20 wayyy to much? maybe maybe not but if you are trying to be a GREAT or EVEN very good athlete training 10 to 20 hours is a good guidline...but it is general as sh*t and really doesn't tell you much.
Which is how I view hydration. And you are right the body is not losing ounces and ounces of water each minute that you need to be beer bonging water every 5 minutes as some would have you believe. But from what I have seen your general athlete under 25 who trains intensely and is VERY active is underhydrated...maybe not by much but hardly ever are they well hydrated.
You can see this example loud and clear working any football two a days as I did many times as an ATC. From high school to college people will be dropping 3 to 8 pounds of water during the day and NOT replacing them. This is the norm...not the exception.
So let's discuss hydration as it relates to intensely trained and intensely active individuals. Go find me 1,000 of those individuals age 13 to 20 and over 80% at least will be in some state of dehydration on a fairly normal basis.
I didn't mean to be a d*ck but your post is coming off like we are talking about normal adult men....but we are not...we are talking about something totally different.Last edited by Flex500; 04-13-2010 at 10:33 AM.

i drink a gallon of water not mixed with anything else. I probably consume close to 2 gallons of other fluids including sh t I mix. I dont see a problem doing this, it not rocket science. hell I might consume most of the gallon before, during and postworkout if you wanna be that anal about it.

I drink 2 gallons before workouts because water gives me mad pumps.
folks are trying way too hard for this one.
if you have a dry mouth that doesn't mean you are dehydrated either.
urine only indicates dehydration if it is dark...not yellow, or slightly yellow, but dark almost a brownish color...
drinking slowly over time is best..because your body can absorb it. Drink to fast and the body may just excrete it or dilute your blood."An army is a team. It lives, eats, sleeps, fights as a team. This individuality stuff is a bunch of bull$hi?." - General George Patton Jr

Drink what you want.... bottom line is, your body is severly operated on water so why not give it as much as it can take? Worse case you piss a lot....... there is no evidence to provide damage from drinking lots of water except water poisen which you have to drink well over 3+ gallons I think?

I drink out of a gallon jug every day. I use that water to fill my shaker cups when it comes to my supplements too. I always end up drinking about a gallon, maybe a bit more depending on random things throughout the day. Around a gallon per day is fine and very easy to do.
During my contest prep, I was drinking 2.5-3 gallons per day. This is an extreme case that only those prepping for a show should follow. I was doing 60min cardio sessions in the morning wearing a sweatshirt with a sauna suit underneath it. I had a whole gallon in my system by 9am.Best Meet Lifts:
