I went to Canada once.

Outside of my home town, Ontario is the best place I have ever been.

And yeah you do what you gotta do to pull..........but sumo pulling is still gay.

Honestly Ronin, sounds like you might be a bit fat bro. That pressure in your chest isn't from your thighs it's from the fact that your gut is keeping you from getting to the bar. It's like when you get fat and try to tie your shoes. Very uncomfortable. same feeling. That's also why a lot of fat guys pull sumo. But "tall guys"? No man. The best deadlifters pull conventional. Why? A greater potential for power because you get erectors involved as well as the hips and hams. Where with sumo, you might be pulling a shorter distance, but the erectors don't get involved as much.

Lose some weight. You will feel better and pull better.

No doubt I was too fat, and that's the reason for the 22lb weight loss in the last 12 weeks. However, the problem was more with biometrics instead of my gut.

Fred Hatfield explains why lifters with shorter appendages may be better served with the sumo using science and math. It supports all the common sense anecdotal evidence. Care to dispute him? Again, I'll wait . . .

As far as the best deadlifters in the world are concerned, the sumo was taught to me in 2007 (BEFORE I gained the excess weight) by Donnie Thompson. In 2008, Donnie set the world record for the highest total EVER in a full power meet (2905lbs). He still holds that record.

I'm still making gains with sumo, and he's still the strongest man to walk the earth.

Long story short, go with what works for YOU. Ignore the rest.

I injured myself a year ago. I have not been able to deadlift at all for a year.

Tried sumo last week and I was pain free. I was so happy since I could deadlift again.

Sumo isn't gay, it's a completely different animal. 500 pounds is 500 pounds no matter what style you lift.

lol actually, that fact isn’t true anymore. Cailer Woolam is 22 years old and he has world records for deadlift and guess what. He pulled sumo
