So i'm getting blood work done next week just to check out everything to make sure i'm healthy. Over the last few months feels like my strength is leaving and i've felt pretty sluggish just about everyday, even while taking stimulants (i've been off stims for 2 weeks and nothing noticeable) --- overall just feel blehhhhh
anyways, so i'm going to the doctors, requesting a full blood panel ... some things i really want to make sure:
test/estrogen/prolactin/coristol
liver enzymes
is it possible to check creatinine with a normal test?
any hints/tips on what to look for, how to approach the doctor, and what to request with my blood work?
thanks
PS - can they check for insulin sensitivity and/or hypoglycemia while doing blood work?

Yes to blood sugar levels. They usually do.
Creatinine has always been standard for me as well.
I would ask for D3(25-OH). Maybe even B12 for fun.
Full thyroid panel
TSH 3rd gen
T4 Total
T3 Uptake
T4 Free
Cortisol some labs may send you separately as it has to be fasted at 9am. Atleast at my lab.
And to add to your hormonal panel
DHEA Sulfate
Estradiol
Estrone

Really wanna test for insulin resistance ask for a glucose intermitten fasting test (i really can't remember the actual name)
You go to the doc in a fasted state, they take blood, you drink a soda over a span of like 30 min, they wait an hour and half to 2 hours, then take your blood again to check insulin levels.Krispy Kreme Krew Forever.

I found this out the hard way:
Just because your doctor orders it, does not mean your insurance will cover it. I once asked my doctor for a Free/Total test panel. He said sure, wrote it on the order, and sent me on my way. I figured since he wrote it down, it would be covered. About 2 weeks later my Dad was angry because he just paid $400 for unnecessary bloodwork.*~=Gator Nation=~*
If I was in a room and someone yelled "Hey Bitches!" I would never turn around because I just don't fit the description.

I get blood work done often (free since my mom is a nurse), and every test I've had creatinine always comes back on it even when I specifically only ask for test, free test, estrodiol, LH, etc. I assume it's pretty much a standard on most tests.
As others have said, depending on what you're looking to do (cortisol, few others I can't remember) you'll need to be 12 hours or so fasted for accurate results. Certain tests might take a bit longer then others to come back. Do you know if your doctor outsources his blood works? Could affect the price/time. My mothers hospital did everything there so things were faster as well in getting results back.
What overall is the reason behind wanting this blood work? Just general information about sluggishness or looking to run a cycle soon also? If you'd like I could ask my mother the best way to approach your doctor, specific questions (if you have any that you think people on here might not know), etc, but you're a big boy and can probably handle that stuff :P.
