I didnt vote, but I looked at the results. If anyone thinks he should have won over 3 they are sadly mistaken and Ray Charles blind. Seriously people, its ok to "like" someone but its another thing to be a blind fanboy.
Ray,Levrone,Delete,Nasser all should have had wins. PLUS Dorians 1st win was a joke as well. Haney looked a lot better over all. Yates is as over rated as it can get in the world of bbing.

Dorian yates physique is very deceptive. It is a strange phenomenom.According to Peter Mc gough pictures do not do Yates justice at all.
for example.
In the 1996 gand prix the video shows backstage and yates looks a bit small and flat .
But once he gets on stage and poses .He has the widest shoulders and best shape and the hardness and cuts are unbelivable .His cuts are just so clear and deep.Nasser must weigh 20lbs more but he blows him away. Watch some Mr olympias on a big TV screen and you see what Yates is about
You cant judge a bodybuilding show from pictures alone .Video is a bit better but you have to consider what the experts at the show say as well.
for example at the Arnold classic i thought phil Heath looked as big as Kai Greene. In an interview after Dave palumbo and co were saying they thought his muscles were almost too big and massive and Heaths trainer was saying how thick he is.You cant see that in pics .Onstage that 3 dimensional quality looks better .Yates had that combination of 3 d thickness and crytal clear definition plus his strengths such as forearms calves low back low lats width ,shoulder width are the other competitors weak parts.
In 1997 the best nasser did was equal dorian in some muscle but next to dorian he looked smooth .although i thought he won the front double bicep pose ,but even slightly off Dorian is just so clearly cut he makes other guys look smooth..The guy is a freak.
The way I see yates is .If you added some height to Dexter Jackson ,made him 5-9% more defined ,built up his calves forearms and low back and added 50lbs of muscle .then you would have Dorian YatesLast edited by fantell; 03-31-2010 at 10:10 PM.

Dorian has said over in the MD forums that he over dieted for every show b/c he was obsessed with coming in conditioned. That 1993 Photoshoot he was 268lbs shredded but he kept dieting up to the contest and lost 10-15lbs of muscle bc of it, he did that for every show and its somethign he said he regrets. So we never actually got to see a 100 percent prime Dorian.

That's strange because in pics he looks less conditioned than his competitors in almost every shot. His lower back area is good, but his glutes aren't shredded. His serratus gets crushed by shawn, levrone has him in delt striations in another picture.. Overall his conditioning is ballparking them and he was more size though.
I know people say he looks very grainy, again, that's probably hard to get across in pictures. That being said he did still deserve a few of his wins. The 92 pics are very convincing, but that's dorians best pose lol. If Kevin had managed to develop a back or if shawn was 3 inches taller, no way...Last edited by T3mpest; 04-01-2010 at 01:19 AM.

I saw 2 Mr. O's live (94 & 96) and Dorian was the biggest guy on stage. Not a question about that. But, I have to say that Flex, Shawn and Kevin did have him in some poses.
Dorian deserved all his titles but 1. I feel that his bicep being pretty much gone, much like Ronnie and his lat, should of placed someone ahead f him in that contest. I won't say WHO to place ahead of him, I guess whoever got 2nd that year. But, 4 is about what I still feel he deserved, and much like Ronnie COULD of lost to Jay in 2001, and did in 2006. Dorian had some off years that Flex, Shawn and Kevin can easily feel(and have a decent argument) they should of won.
EDIT:
AND WTF???!!! Dorian beat Haney? Did I miss something. Could of sworn Haney retired in 91 and Dorian won in 92...
NOOB

I agree with first part. Ive read about it before and i think its true, a lot of pics dont do him any justice. Although for me on almost all of the comparison pics (apart from front double bi) i see he beats people with size and conditioning. People always post the worst front double bi pics of Dorian in a thread like this but like someone else said there are other poses and he wins the majority if not all.
The best way to compare i think is to watch vids of them comparing everyone one stage or the posedowns. Even in 97 his worst year, he looks massive and shredded.

I personally prefered Flex's physique in 93, and 97 was a complete joke as well, not just because of his torn bicep but his body was a mess by that point. Some of the years inbetween not seen enough of to say for sure.
EPO all in my veins; Lately things just don’t seem the same; Actin’ funny, but I don’t know why; ’Scuse me while I pass this guy.
