No post doc. I would not trade my experience in research for anything, but I'm not interested in working in academia. I already own my own nutritional/training consulting company where I work with bodybuilders & strength athletes to get ready for bodybuilding shows, powerlifting meets, or lifting enthusiasts who just want to look better. It has already been very successful and if I put more effort into it I know it can be huge.

sure i'll have more time, but I also plan to work harder expanding my business. My training didn't really suffer in graduate school. I just didn't have a whole lot of time for anything else. It was grad school, my wife, my business, and training. that's pretty much what I did the entire time & was focussed on

Pretty cool, I also started Aug 2004 So, I suppose we graduate at the same time (May 2010)? I have been scurrying to make the Grad School deadline for graduation last several weeks, so I know the pressures. I find it commendable that you are able to maintain your physique, training along with family and business. That calls for an excellent work ethic. Good luck in all your future endeavors!
And remember what the P, H and D stand for. Keep it real!

Hey Layne, I feel like a stalker, but I found these three papers of yours through scifinder and I don't have access to the journal for the one where I'm listing the title. Is there any other way to get it?

yea but I don't even remember dude. I just write down my #s after a meal and then track them throughout the day. Not to be a jerk, but i'm smack dab in the middle of house hunting and the last 48 hours (put an offer in, lost it, didn't get the house, put another offer in, finally got it to go through) have been some of the most roller coaster in my life and I just don't have a long memory LOL.
I don't see why you need specific foods? I mean I just had some low fat popcorn and a protein shake. I remember that. Not sure what to tell you, it's not like i'm trying to keep some secret from you dude

the fact that you had to balance managing your business along with all of that gives me hope. im finishing up my bachelors next year and will be moving on toward a doctorate in PT. currently juggling working and school both full time along with the family, and it definitely gets overwhelming. hearing that other people have done it helps a lot ... especially since my job probably doesn't demand nearly the time or energy that managing a business would.
