When do you guys think is the best time during a regular work out day to have a cheat meal? By cheat meal I'm not referring to something like an ice cream, I mean like a burger or two, something high in protein in carbs but also high in fat. I was thinking pre work out would be the best time??

Don't have a cheat: 1. you can work whatever "cheat" food into your diet and is therefor not a cheat and 2. cheat meals aren't nearly as efficient as re-feeds.
Do re-feeds. Planned, higher calorie, very high carb/very low fat days when you eat up to 2x as much carbs as usually (sources really don't matter much). These will help you lose even more weight by increasing leptin production, inducing anabolism, boosting your energy levels and helping you cope with the low-carb diet you're probably on.

just want to quote this cause his advice is fantastic, always make it a cheat meal not a cheat day, having 800-1000 cals in a meal is not that big a deal, doing it two or three times and adding fatty desserts is trouble. I do mine on leg day not on the weekend but that's the only change between my advice and his.

I am more of a fan of cheat meal that more closely resembles a re-feed. By this I mean its a cheat meal but its a controlled calculated one. I usually eat it on Sunday when I eat it more specifically really depends on what I'm in the mood for. If I'm feeling a big ****ing breakfast then breakfast. If I'm feeling ice cream I go get a big friggen sundae or get a ton of fresh made custard.
I just use this meal as a way to keep my sanity and to change things up, and because the only issue is total calories and not composition so much its just whatever I want most. Having said that, I'm more likely to eat a big plate of corned beef hash, eggs, and toast than I am to sit there and eat 5 bags of ruffles.

The best time to have a cheat meal is at the end of a long day, after a brutal workout, and after a bowl of some good mary jane. Completely, utterly serious.

^this. I usually have my week planned out ahead and if i go out to eat with my friends and feel like having a "cheat" meal it's always after leg days. I always try to eat as healthy as possible when eating out, the worst ive gone is probably a chinese buffet and did work on some sushi but it doesnt really matter when, I wouldnt do it preworkout though if your going to eat ALOT.

Thats the best answer i've heard, but maybe do it after an intense HIIT cardio seshion, your matabolism is spiked so you won't turn any of those calories into fat, but still include that mary jane bowl, before and after for me helps to keep on diet, just drink lots of water. definatly the most important part lol

Morning
I'd say the best time for a cheat meal is in the morning, especially on leg day! Having your cheat in the morning gives you all day to burn off the excess calories, fats, sugars whatever you decide as your cheat. Unless your cheat is alcohol... Don't drink for breakfast! Lbvs. Just had a donut, going to hit legs n chest. Boom

Do your part to keep the forums tidy. Posting in old threads is generally discouraged in the subforums, since it can potentially create disjointed "zombie" information; outdated posts with data which is no longer relevant, combined with more recent posts reflecting more current circumstance.
Rule of thumb:
-If you have a question, start a new thread and link to the old if relevant.
-If you have something to add and judge that your information is related, but more up-to-date, start a new thread and link to the old if desired, but avoid duplicating effort by posting information already contained in an old thread.BRAINS & GAINS

I've been able to cut down on my cheat meals TREMENDOUSLY by incorporating better tasting food into my diet. I picked up a bunch of recipes for a frittata, protein cheesecake, greek yogurt parfaits, etc. I highly suggest it. Cook a nice meal once in a while rather than eating plain oats and chicken every day.
