Instead of having a million threads lets just do this...
My first team tonight...
5X5 Head to Head with only 7 inning minimum pitch limit (which is why I drafted 5 closers, thinking I could easily win Saves,Era and Whip most weeks)
14 Teams
C- Yadier Molina
1B- Ryan Howard
2B- Brandon Phillips
SS- Stephen Drew
3B- Mark Reynolds
LF- Adam Dunn
CF- Carlos Gonzalez
RF- Justin Upton
Util- Julio Borbon
Bench- Jay Bruce
Bench- Lastings Milledge
SP- Brett Anderson
SP- Francisco Liriano
RP- Jonathan Broxton
RP- Trevor Hoffman
P- Leo Nunez
P- Heath Bell
P- Mike Gonzalez
Bench - Colby Lewis
Bench - Wade Davis
Bench - Clay Bucholz
I understand my SP is very weak, but like I said, only 7 innings minimum, But I think I could still use another decent SP... May try to target someone like Gallardo or Lester.

Your starting pitching is going to kill you. Other than that, your offense looks solid and you've got a sh*t ton of closers.

the draft definitely didn't pan out the way I wanted to, but I still think I have a good squad... really young though.

I understand the catcher axiom, but in this case it was the 13th overall pick and the only other option was Wright (I never take an ace first pick). I dont trust Wright one bit in the new park and Mauer is almost a shoo-in for solid numbers at a very shallow position. Furthermore, its rumored that new Target Field will play into lefties even more than the old one, so we shall see.

Can't believe anyone would think Wright is better than Mauer....
mind=blown
Mauer had a career best year yes, but he is about to hit the magic age of 27, which means he is entering his prime.. I have no fear that last year was a career year.100% legit poster, no longer a troll. (dead serious)

10 hr/72 rbi in 535 at bats makes me much more apprehensive to take Wright in the first round. I think he will bounce back, but its still very speculative as to how much. If he renounced his line drive hitter stance then perhaps he can acclimate his power better to the new park, but I still think the end result will be less prolific than before the move. Not to mention his SB's are too inconsistent to bank on.

I didn't bring up the age because I thought he was younger than Wright is... I brought it up because Mauer is 26 about to turn 27, and 27 is usually the age guys enter their primes and really start to blossom. People have always though Mauer would develop power, so I see no reason why he would regress back to 10 home runs.

Yeah I planned on definitely using Morneau or Berkman as trade bait. Im hoping Davis can pull it off, but I still keep relying on him too much to fill the void at 3rd down in the draft.
Edit: If lopez can reproduce close to the same results TWO years ago I would be content...Last edited by panic91984; 03-15-2010 at 07:32 AM.
