band of bros was fantastic, and with speilberg and hanks behind it all...you know the pacific should live up to what band of bros was. Although i read a few of ambrose's books before the series came out, band of bros will probably be a lil more "real" to me lol.

I do not have HBO. Currently have Starzzzz and Showtime free for the next four months.

I watched the first episode last night. It doesn't have the cohesion that BoB has simply because it doesn't focus on a single unit or a single character. It's kinda spread around like the war in the Pacific itself was. Maybe would've been a tighter story if they'd stuck with one battalion of the 1st Marine Division.
Still, it was pretty good...hopefully the later episodes will prove to be a little more compelling."Blessed be the Lord my rock, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle." - Psalm 144:1

We watched it last night, it was alright at least it kept my interest..but it was the first episode it takes a few for me to get the feel of the characters more. I dont think it will be on the same level as BoB. Nothing probably will be it was so good, and it also had the commentary from the actual guys in Easy company.
It will be interesting to see..I hope its good because there is so much crap out I cannot even stand to watch tv anymore.Just your average everyday sane psycho supergoddess

I too was disappointed. I don't know if they didn't set up the characters well enough or if it's that I'm comparing it to BOB which I've seen several times and also have the book. Maybe a couple of times through the re-runs I'll like it just fine...

The second episode was better. The story was a lot easier to follow, and the characters are growing into personalities. SGT Basilone was one tough SOB.
Looks like I have some reading to do...
The third episode looks like it's going to be even better."Blessed be the Lord my rock, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle." - Psalm 144:1
