I'm a bit worried about having over implants - has anyone else been told this?
Is this the only surgeon you've had a consultation with?

It really bothers me that almost EVERY fitness model you see in fitness mags have fake boobs. I have always been very tiny and have had a B cup. I have always wanted to do a fitness comp. as a bikini competitor....but seeing all these woman that do the bikini modeling all have these fake boobs. I figure there is so chance of winning one unless i have the boobs to "fit" in. Ive always wondered if I should get them but the risks and the cost are just not worth it. I'll live with what I was given. PLUS i couldnt imagine buying all new work out shirts to fit my new boobs...and trying to run with those things would not be fun lol

I always thought that too, but now that i have them, I love them. It's completely a personal choice of course...and I would never tell anyone that they should or shouldn't get them. I went from a small B to a D, and my clothes all still fit. The only thing that I had to get new was bras (obviously). I do, however, think that a fit woman is beautiful with or without boobs. Peeking at your bosyspace, you look great! I'd totally go for competition! You don't need big boobs to do well! Now I don't know a lot about competition, but could you get a padded suit, or some inserts if breast size is something that you are concerned with?
Got a new mindset! Let's do this!!!!!!

I just wanted to add some information to any girls considering getting breast implants.

I have them. I love them. I encourage anyone who WANTS them to get them. :-) If you don't want them, that is your choice.

I got my implants in November 2008. 500cc, over the muscle, Mentor silicone implants. That's right, 500cc right on top of me. If you look at my photos I am not a watermelon porn star boobie girl. It's important to remember that what you measure is not what you look so keep that in mind. I actually wish I went bigger.

You do not need to buy a bunch of new clothes to fit your boobs. Your clothes you have now will fit you find. You will, however, need to buy new sports bras and regular bras (obviously). I highly recommend that you go a size larger than your surgeon recommends unless you have an awesome one like mine who can make a girl look proportionate to her size. Silicone can go over the muscle! It's a common misconception! Silicone was actually made to over over the muscle. The best part is over the muscle is less painful (or so I've heard).

I have a lot of tips for recovery including:

If you can afford it, go to a rental place and rent a recliner. The way you sleep is restricted for the first couple of weeks and it makes all the difference. I wish I had a recliner!

If you can't afford a recliner to rent/buy, get one of those "TV" pillows to prop you up. I didn't have one of these and fell asleep. The pillow fell off the couch and I was stuck on my back in agonizing pain. Remember I had 500cc on my chest! It felt like an elephant!

Don't do the surgery on your period. I did this. Changing a tampon was the worst experience after having surgery. It's really hard to move after surgery albeit some handle it better than others so keep that in mind! If you can, avoid it!

Work out is limited for weeks after surgery and limited beyond that to isolated movements like bicep curls. You might gain weight. I did. My friends all did. Keep your diet in check. It's easy to fall into a convenient food trip while recovery.

Implant bras are a bit more expensive in the sense that you will have to try a wide variety of bras to see what fits. Just because you measure a 36DD doesn't mean those bras will fit you. This is based on the amount of fat and breast tissue you have combined with the implant shape and size. I can't wear Victoria Secret anymore. I buy all of my bras from a custom lingerie store or from Nordstrom. Some bras are 34DDD, some are 36F. Find someone and get fitted properly

Your boobs will change in size over the year.

Some say your boobs become less sensitive. Mine did not. Now they are more sensitive!

Lastly... MASSAGE MASSAGE MASSAGE!!! You want to avoid getting scar tissue! I didn't massage my right breast and it has a bit of scar tissue. The scar tissue will make your breast feel harder. If that's one bit of information you get, is massage!! :-) I'm very open about my surgery and will answer any FEMALE's questions if they need more information.

Ladies, don't judge women on the size of their boobs. If they're fake, real, droopy, perky... it's unfair for a girl without implants to say implants are stupid or look weird. How would you feel if the ladies with implants made fun of the size of your boobs? Exactly.

It's the year 2010. There are stem cell treatments to create the circulatory tissue necessary to keep transplanted fat alive, though the english wikipedia does its best to bury this information.

Current procedures can only add a cup or two of size.

In the coming couple of decades, growing fat tissue (boobs) in a lab will most likely become viable, requiring less if any lipo.

There are quite a few clinics online with before and after photographs of the procedure. The only one I remember off the top of my head is cellport.jp.

What are the differences between gel, silicone, or saline? You cant breast feed with fake boobs can you? I think I will get them one day, but prob. after I have children. I def. would have to buy all new work out shirts if I got implants lol. There super tight so I dont need a sports bra. I mean life without a sports bra is awesome. I think I wouldnt enjoy HAVING to wear one if I had implants.

    My 2 cents....

1 cent: Friends father is a head surgeon at St. Josephs Hospital in Phoenix AZ. Friend and his GF were shopping breast implants for her, a skinny girl in her mid 20s. In short, the opinion his father gave was that implants should not affect breastfeeding unless you go tooooo big, like porn status big. Also, getting the implants before pregnancy will allow the breast tissues to swell/decrease with the milk production, and will help shape around the implant, giving it a more natural look in the end.

2 cent: My mother had breast cancer. Survived, and had reconstruction surgery. She went with the saline sack method. This is *basically* a water balloon that is inserted into the chest. Once the body has recovered and accepted the implant, the doctor was able to inject saline solution via a needle to increase the volume of the sack. It may be less painful surgery than going full size at once with silicon, but the needle part sounds ouch.

    Cheers!

wow, you have a lot of misconceptions about breast implants. If you do decide to one day get them, I would suggest you meet with many doctors and do as much online research as you can to make a good informative decision that will fit YOUR personal needs as each implant story varies from person to person.

First, it is possible for a regular woman, WITHOUT breast implants, to NOT be able to breast feed. There are women all across the globe with natural breasts who just cannot produce milk for their children. That's a fact. There are plenty of women with breast implants who breast feed their children. I do not have children so I cannot attest a personal story but Pamela Anderson breast fed her 2 boys. 'Nuff said

Second, you will need to invest in a good sports bra to preserve your breast tissue. When I was flat chested, sure, I could get away with not wearing a bra and just 'tight' workout clothes but in all honesty now that I'm a DD I need that bra.

Regarding when you get them (pre/post children) my plastic surgeon has always advised me to tell my friends that if they plan on having children within 6-9 months after surgery they should just wait as your body adjusts to the implants for months after you get them.

Silicone Gel = same thing. The silicone in implants post 2006 are all gel so if you cut them in half, they won't ooze into your body. Kind of like if you cut an orange in half. Saline is a liquid implant with a silicone gel with saline water inside. I personally do not recommend saline implants as silicone is stronger but again, it's a personal choice. These are what are available in America... your country might be different and not as strict standards when it comes to implants.

I have a (somewhat) embarrassing question about breast implants... How much pressure can you put on them? I have a partner who is very fond of, ahem, squeezing, pulling, generally playing with my boobies. I realise that he won't be able to do this while I'm in recovery, of course, but down the track will he be able to do this? What about a partner or child resting their head on your chest like a pillow? I have no idea what firmness/texture to compare it to!

Only a cup size or 2? I dont think you're right. My fiance's cousin went from a "b" to an "e" when she got hers. And my fiance went from a "c" to a full "DD". Look great! And you're are right, they have a site with before and after photos.

The sacks are really durable, you will not have a problem as long as you dont jump out of a 3 story building chest first! If you already have breast tissue, you wont be able to tell much of a difference unless you go really big. Your surgeon will show you how firm they will be. There are stages, 1,2,3 with 3 being the firmest.

@ironmomma, A male co-worker said I looked manly...now mind you, I work in a warehouse full of 50-60-somthings (age has nothing to do with it...they are just about all over-weight and miserable) and it seems they all look forward to the donuts when they arrive. So to that I said...."Buddy, I am more manly than you'll ever be and more woman than you'll ever have....and at least my 6pack doesn't come with pull-off tabs beer farts!"

My thought, *Priceless*! Two thumbs for you girl!

Looks like i'm going to start saving a bit too when I can.
I tried on my leather motorcycle suit so I can see how it fits at my new size so I can sell it (selling the bike). WOW it's so much easier to get on! I was so happy until... I put the jacket part on and it was no longer squeezing the life out of my chest.
Plus every time I look at myself it seems they are lacking what they once had.

But being in better shape > having the bigger natural boobs

kinda wish I was one of the lucky ones to retain my chest. I mean I was only a full B (most of the time kinda coming out of the B cup) but I liked it there! lol

I know it'll probably hurt me if I compete (which I want to do eventually) but I don't want implants. I know I'll be pretty flat once I really get into shape, but I'm actually looking forward to it - I just find them bothersome to deal with. I've been cutting for 1 1/2 months and my boobs are already getting smaller, I love it
Cutting from 175lbs to 135lbs, see my journey: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=133641461
