Hey guys heres a pull up trick I learned a few years back.
Take 2 strong towels (bath towels) and throw them over the pull up bar. Then hang on to each one(one hand grasping each towel) Then do your pull ups. Its a killer workout for the forearms because you have to grip the towels.

In. I've been stuck at 18 for idk how long. Just switched to the recon ron routine to change things up. My goal is to be at 25 by the time I ship to OCS. Do you guys have any other tips for getting though a rough plateau?

ive been working on pullups for 4 weeks now.
only can do 6 sets of 8 reps.
any recommendations on what rep/set scheme would help me gain strength in pullups the fastest?
dont think adding weight is necessary... yet.

Pull-ups come with time and consistency took me 3 months of boot camp to go from 14 to 20
Try and do 4 or 5 sets of what ever you can do the most without going to failure (attempting a rep and not being able to complete it). 3 times a week
when I hit 4 sets of 20 I added weight 25 lbs 5 sets of 5 and added weight slowly 25,35,45,50,70,90,105,115,125,135....
I also gained muscle weight 186 lbs to 210 why it took years.Last edited by ExtremistPullup; 03-03-2010 at 08:36 PM.

how do i get better at doing them, like, seriously i can't even do 3, how should i go about this to work my way up
"Modern man is conditioned to expect instant gratification but any success or triumph realized quickly, with only marginal effort is necessarily shallow. Meaningful achievement takes time, hard work, persistence, patience, proper intent and constant self-awareness. The path to such success is punctuated by failure, consolidation and renewed effort. Personal reconstruction is art." - MFT

the way i was progressing was simple..
i worked at them twice a week, lets say mon-friday.. so friday you can shoot for a new pr and monday work on the pr, so friday do 3, then monday do 3 again, and friday do 4, monday do 4 again.... soon enough youll progress faster.. ( make sure they are legit i do the deadhangs, dont start with bad habits..
work yourself up to 15 reps for me i waited until i could do 3 sets of 15.. then started adding weight and dropping weight to 8... then i followed the same thing.. trying for a new pr on friday.. adding 2.5 pounds every week.. eat lots sleep lots.. youll keep progressing for a while... you just gotta so them more often..
soon enough you will be getting strong as **** on them.. i did so can anyone.ADMA Muay Thai gym.
