    bench: 95x10, 135x8, 225x3, 245x2, 255x1
    1 board: 255x1x2, 265x1, 275x1, 285x1
    5 board: 265x5, 285x5, 305x5
    tbar row: 80x10, 90x10, 115x10, 135x8x2, 115x10, 8

found that my bench groove had gotten messed up again, was taking it too high. i think it's from benching at home- unracking it myself moved it again. found out that's why my shoulder has been sore. felt better after a few warmup sets.

deadlifting tomorrow. if i can make it back to howell, i'll deadlift with triple-x. if not, well, that's why i love my basement. i've got a few things to do around here, so i might not make it down. they are there starting at 2, and the gym will be closing at 4.

Whoops, forgot to reply to this. Yep it's on there and holding up great, it only split around the circular part because I bent the damn hook. Other than that it's been holding up to 400lb slams just fine. Even on the lip when the knurling catches it it's holding up surprisingly well.

Off from work, but not working out

I had a fantastic session tonight. Maybe it's Jack3d, maybe I finally dialed in my form again, maybe both. All I know is I crushed my previous weeks' worth of workouts for bench. In those weeks I could only get 4 reps in the first set with 295 and ended up quitting after three sets to add board presses in.

    Flat bench
    135x10
    225x3

    295x5
    295x5
    295x4
295x4 (Grinder, weight started coming back and almost popped my shoulder)
295x3 (Probably could have had 4)
    Add 3-board
    305x3
    305x3
    305x2

My back and shoulder had had enough at the end of my board presses so I called it quits after two reps.

So compared to last week where I did 295x4, 295x3, 295x3, then quit because I was beat, this was a HUGE upgrade.

I just need to remember to get my ass closer to the legs of the bench so I don't catch the hooks on the way up, and tuck my elbows more than seems normal, it seemed to eliminate my sticking point and everything. I could feel my elbows flaring way too much in the previous weeks, but when I tried tucking more something else went wrong. I really hope I keep this form for next time.

    DB Flyes

    70x8
    70x8
    70x8

Very psyched about this workout because of how pissed I've been lately with my bench.

I suggest it too. I got some about a month ago and it really does help me out quite a bit. I got my personal best on bench with it, so really if I were you I would at least give it a shot.

I think there's only two or three, fruit punch, lemon lime, and maybe some sort of grape flavor?

I have the fruit punch and it's not bad, but it's not like it tastes great. I hate all lemon lime stuff so I didn't bother with that.

I really hope my stupid body doesn't get a tolerance for it quickly, I'm only using it three days a week so maybe it'll take longer to get used to.

Tried jack3d, couldn't stand the taste. Still have some left. Been using Assault from MusclePharm. Works good with not a lot of face tingle. Feel the effects 10 min after I take it and lasts quite a while. Jkd tasted to much like cough syrup to me.

Once, at my local gym, I went into the locker room to take a leak. There was this little hairy, naked guy (probably my age) with it swinging down to his knee. He was really showing it off and smiled at me (WTF?!?) and winked. Me, being me, told him out loud, "if you want to impress me with that, have it hold up a barbell with 2 plates a side."

i was off today, too. had a bunch of stuff to get done around the house, didn't get deadlifts in. i'll do them at work tomorrow night.

i had to fix the towel bar in the kid's bathroom- my 3 year old decided to try pullups on it. he ripped it off the wall, along with a 3" hole in the drywall. i use good anchors, never had a problem (have the same bar in my bathroom and no problems, and the bar in the kid's bathroom had been up for 4 years). it's not done, i need to paint the repaired spot and hang the bar back up.

also needed to mow the lawn, but had to wait for it to cool down some. it felt good to have a few days off, spent a lot of time in my mom's pool and watching baseball. also ate a bunch of food, drank some brew, and relaxed.

i bought tickets to a toledo mud hen's game (tiger's minor league team) for july 30th. my wife and i are gonna spend the weekend in toledo, and i have a meet in monroe, mi on the 31st. i'm pretty excited- it's the closest thing to a vacation we've had since my youngest boy was born. all of the kids are gonna spend the weekend with my mom and stepdad, they have a "camp" with all the grandkids once a year. usually we do home improvements on that weekend, decided to have some fun this year instead. still need to do my roof, i'll get that done sometime. i'm still undecided on what kind of roof to put on (metal or shingles).

Once, at my local gym, I went into the locker room to take a leak. There was this little hairy, naked guy (probably my age) with it swinging down to his knee. He was really showing it off and smiled at me (WTF?!?) and winked. Me, being me, told him out loud, "if you want to impress me with that, have it hold up a barbell with 2 plates a side."

i wish that happened to mine

i was kinda mad, but laughing on the inside. he can do pullups on the monkey bars, almost high enough to get his head over the bar. he's gonna be the kid that lifts with me, and the one that helps me fix things.

as far as preworkout supps, the only ones i've really used are superpump from gaspari and vasocharge from scivation. both were alright, i just kept forgetting to take them... maybe i'll give them another shot, i've got both here still.

Horsepower pwo made my scalp and face tingly and itchy. I was told this is a side effect of beta alanine. It tasted horrible so I gave away the 2/3 full tub.

This Arctic Blue Rasberry Assault tastes great, not mediciney at all. Best one I've ever had(I've tried a lot of them). Not the best mixing though unless you use room temp water, but even then its good

Well, I got about an hour of sleep last night again. I guess it is a side effect of the stuff, don't know what to do now. Cut the dose or something I guess. I feel like I just wasted the workout because I got no rest. Weird thing is I don't feel overly tired like I only got an hour, but I know I didn't sleep most of the night.

EDIT: I guess the consensus is to take either a lower dosage or take it earlier if you work out at night. Or both. I'll try that next time, but I don't think I'll use it tonight because I can't afford two ****ty nights' sleep in a row.

Why don't you workout first thing in the morning? Nothing better than heavy lifts at 530 AM.

Not possible for me. I am the farthest from a morning person one can get. I'd never even attempt it. Not to mention I'd have to get up at 4am, which means going to bed even earlier, which means less time to eat what I usually eat.

I don't understand how I'm not asleep at work right now. This stuff can't possibly still be in my system.

I know what you mean man. If I'm late getting to my workout I usually skip the N.O. because it makes it too difficult for me to fall asleep.

One thing I tried that helped a bit was taking it about an hour earlier than recommended on the product packaging, so about an hour and half prior to my workout. In my case the effects tend to be pretty long lasting so it worked as intended for my workouts and gave me a little extra time to work it out of my system before bed. Fortunately I was recently able to change my work hours to 7:00am-3:00pm so I'm able to get to my workout pretty early these days.

    Deadlift workout tonight, my fav.

I haven't had an issue with this, of course I always have some trouble getting to bed anyway. But I take the stuff usually as soon as I get home from work, around 5:45 ish, and hit the gym about 6:15 or 6:30, and havent felt wired later at night, seems to wear down around 10 or so.

Saw your progress pics man, congrats! Looks like you got some mod reps for it too, nice

A different but real solid preWO supp for you guys that can't get to sleep is Animal Pump. The red pill in the pack contains the caffeine, and you can just not take it.

Still a great product without the red pill.

Thanks Jimbo. I'm looking forward to shedding the next 50-60 pounds but I guess that's at least another 6 or 7 months down the road assuming things keep rolling along as they have been. It's been a little frustrating getting serious about strength training right when I need to maintain this extended deficit and drop all this extra fat, but hey, better late than never right?

The mod reps were actually the result of that Tour De Cure thread. My grandmother passed away due to complications of Type II diabetes, one of my closest friends has been struggling with Type I, and another close friend's son was just diagnosed with Type I. It's a cause I'm happy to support when I have the opportunity to do so.

Other people need the bathroom for their morning routines. Plus I need time to wake up and eat, if I eat too soon after I wake up I just about throw up. Then I have to leave at 7am to get to work.

I think I'll try that tonight, take two scoops as soon as I get home around 6pm and lift around 7:30-8:00.

I really don't know how I'm not tired right now, maybe I at least got some rest. I wasn't lying there staring at the ceiling but I know I wasn't fully asleep.
