    This post was exactly what I needed to read.

    I have spent so much time trying to decide between what brand of creatine to buy, how many reps to do on my assistance sets, and how much protein that I consume that I nearly forgot about the big things. Honestly, I feel kind of stupid right now; I've been training so hard and reading up so much on things, but only sleeping 4-5 hours a night. My diet is good and so is my training program, but what has probably caused my current overtraining is my overexertion of myself.

    I think that's pretty common when you subscribe to the mags. In fact, it seems like they actually promote making constant changes. Truth is, it's just not necessary. It's fine to experiment to see what works, but no need to make changes if you're dialed on on something that's good for you.

    I totally understand what he is saying. One person is saying you need x amount of protein a day and another is saying something completely different. Counting calories/protein/carbs and trying to figure out how many sets and reps. Thats all over thinking. I was kinda the same way. Thinkin, would this better or would this be better? I used to do that all the time and drove me nuts and made my workouts/nutrition all unstable. I think that if you just follow 3 basic rules which is ... Lift/Eat/Rest.. then your in good standing w/ progression. Of course when you lift weights you will get stronger, so obvisously the person will go up in weights..(i.e bigger muscles) ya dont have to second guess that and you know eating healthy over junky crap is better anyways.. so why re think that!? Common sense goes a long way here. Sure there are things that help you excel in this, but if you follow 3 basic rules... Lift..Eat..Rest then you are in good shape in to do what you need to do. All the other stuff is second hand. Thats my 2 cents.

    I just want to eat and workout to gain weight and get stronger. Im not trying to look like a guy in the magazine with muscles popping out everywhere. It's all very simple this way, hopefully.

    This philosophy of mine may change later on, but for right now it is what I've got.

    Amazing post. I was thinking about that for a long time because I always seem to get caught up in learning more and doing the "right" routine instead of giving 100% in the gym every week. That really was eye opening, thanks.

    Very good information and very true! Im glad i came across this, ive been going nuts the last couple days just trying to decide on a routine to start with and reps and this and that but i got it all figured out now i think.

    Im gonna spend less time worrying and more time training thats for sure. Already found a lot of helpful stuff on this site.
