The honest truth, in todays competitions..you have plenty of muscle to compete and place, as long as you lean out.

thats the sad truth, so many women have rushed into competing, after only training for a year or less, that the competitive pool has become, well poor. So I guess for you, it works in your favor. 5 years ago I would have said no.....today, take some bodyfat off, and you will be just fine to compete in figure.
I do not sugar coat things, but you got in the condition you're in by "sugar coating."

idk anything about competing but I did want to say that I think your legs look awesome, and 16 weeks gives you alot of time to lean out more. Your back and legs look great at your current bf.

I personally would not compete with that amount of muscle but that is just me. perhaps you could get away with doing figure but even at that you are going to be so small once you diet down... As Mav, stated it is more about the leaning out in the novice classes than the muscle mass in many of the classes today but that doesn't make it right IMHO to rush to the stage. I would require 5 or more years of bulking if I had my way about it for most people.

I'm siding with those who say you should wait it out and gain more muscle. Your physique is very impressive, but when lacking much of the bulk, there's not much to show off underneath when you lean out. Na'mean ?

I always enjoy reading your posts on competing in figure, it's something I wish to take part in someday. You're right though, it does seem as if competitors are judged more on leanness and definition than muscularity + definition nowadays (which for women especially, is not an easy feat).

It depends on the level of competition at the show as to whether or not you have enough muscle. I would definitely say you would be well served to try and gain a bit; however, the first show I did I was down right skinny. I didn't care; I just wanted to try my hand at it and see if I enjoyed it. I completely encourage you to do the show. Even if you don't show well, you may discover a love for the game and then you can improve. Best of luck!

Have you thought about Bikini for a little while?

I agree with Mav's post - but personally I think you might do better to try bikini and continue building muscle. You could continue building, cut down a bit for a competition and jump right back into building afterwards without having to REALLY stress about dieting down to the lower bodyfat level you need for figure.

Your body is definitely impressive though, regardless of what you do. A year or two from now i bet you have the muscle for a competitive amateur. Right now, you'll just be really small in appearance once you really lean down and apply all the tanner.

depending on where your BF% is you could compete. Try something local and small to see how your body reacts to dieting and getting ready. Its really about how you feel. You look great give it a shot

oh hell figure and bikini go hand and hand... they are almost interchangable, and just waste more and more time at shows, but I guess its all about money. They should not allow crossovers for bikini and figure or even withen figure, anyone who has sat thru a 5 hour show or been stuck backstage at a 5 hour show I think would agree with me on this.
wouldn't you think its a problem when your at a bodybuilding show, and out of 5 hours, only 45min's is dedicated to actual bodybuilding.

From what I've seen bikini is considerably higher bodyfat than most figure girls.. They do go hand in hand, but the girls look much less cut in bikini than figure and are typically smaller in muscle size, particularly in the shoulders and arms.

Unless you meant that another way im missing?

You have a lovely figure and I am envious of your lean midsection. I think you could compete and not look out of place on stage, but to be honest, I don't think you have enough muscle to place or be much competition for the bigger girls. You're lacking in the arm, shoulder and back department. Your quads also seem to dominate your hammies.

Personally, I think you would do well to spend the next 6-12 months bulking. You obviously CAN build muscle well and have a great base, but a little more would be just gorgeous

I wouldn't go far enough to say that. The bikini girls look like they were literally plucked right off of a beach. Soft, thin and with very little muscle mass.

Figure competitors have substantially more mass, once you get to the pro level (I'm not talking run of the mill amateur competitions where people are competing after a few months of training).

OP, while I do think you look great and very lean, I personally would not step on a stage with your amount of muscle. I don't think you would embarrass yourself competing (you obviously look like you've put in time at the gym), I just don't consider your size competitive. I definitely think you have what it takes, just not right now!

Get your panties out of a wad. Figure brings in money because people enjoy competing in it and watching it. And, it's also an answer for women who want to compete, be muscular, and not do loads of drugs and end up looking like a man in order to be competitive.

There are plenty of natty female bb's that don't use drugs. A lot of the women who compete in figure don't want to diet down to take it to a bb level.

Not all competitive female bb's look like men.

OP, while I do think you look great and very lean, I personally would not step on a stage with your amount of muscle. I don't think you would embarrass yourself competing (you obviously look like you've put in time at the gym), I just don't consider your size competitive. I definitely think you have what it takes, just not right now!
I agree. You look AWESOME and if you want to try it just for the experience, go for it, but if I were you I'd take some more time to add more muscle to your upper body, especially your back.
Great work! You're still young & have plenty of time to add the mass you need.
    Good luck!

True. But there are a lot of states where it's hard to find a natty show. And to be competitive in an open show, it's often necessary to gear up if you're on the bb side. And what's the point of doing it if you won't be competitive?

and Powerbarssss... yes I was talking on the amature level...you are 100% correct, at the pro level figure women look incredible.... at the amature level I was refering to when I said that figure and bikini almost go hand and hand.
I do not sugar coat things, but you got in the condition you're in by "sugar coating."

i think you could do figure. have you thought about fitness comps? you dont usually need as much muscle in fitness round as figure, but requires more work w the routine.
id never regret any comp i went it, its all experience and it may be good for you to go in an see what it is all about and not worry about placing first. But learning how your body reacts, how the comp works, and place for top 3 or 5. if you place you can move up a class the next year. which will give u a year to put on more mass

The fitness competitors tend to have more mass than the figure competitors (though, I have to remind myself this is an amateur show and you really don't know what to expect). Fitness modeling, on the other hand, I think would be a good idea. From the results I've seen online, fitness models generally have less mass than the figure competitors.

If they have a fitness modeling division, I think that would be great for you, OP.

wouldn't you think its a problem when your at a bodybuilding show, and out of 5 hours, only 45min's is dedicated to actual bodybuilding.
I am inclined to agree with this actually. Yes figure does require more muscle then bikini but i ahve noticed a lot of local shows allowing the crossover from bikini to figure in the same competition. To me that doesn't seem right since they are two different divisions with different ultimate physique requirements (or at least they should be).

I think it is kind of sad that womens BBing and Fitness competitions have dwindled down to 45 minutes in a show. Hell at the Ronnie last year they only had 2 girls compete in the fitness competition. I guess bikini is a good way for girls to get introduced to the figure and BB world without having to train for 5 years but at the same time I have mixed feelings about it. I get kind of bored watching figure and bikini sometimes because there is only so much turning and posing one can watch. BBing and fitness are more fun to watch because even the BBers have a small routine that they do to music.

As for competing in fitness the girls who do that usually have more muscle then figure, but less then BBing. It also requires a lot more prep time as you ahve to master a routine with 6 different very difficult moves. Not only do you have to work on your strength and physique but you have to work on flexability and stamina. But the end result is super entertaining and fun!

To the OP: You look GREAT! Great legs and abs and you look like you are pretty lean right now, but i agree with what others are saying about putting on a little bit more muscle. Once you start to lean out you may find that you are smaller then you would like to be to go on stage. You really do ahve some wonderful potential and look like you could do sports modeling!!!
