fitting "cheat" foods during contest prep

Since you can apparently eat anything as long as you fit it into your macros for the day, then why do people complain that contest prep diets are sooo boring and bland? I'm confused about that.

Because with the need to feel as satiated as possible, as energised as possible and having to meet protein and fat requirements on low calories, most people are forced to be more choosy about where their calories come from. Getting bang for your buck, as it were.

people on contest diet tend to follow asinine food 'rules' - no dairy, fruit, peanut butter, sodium (especially silly) or other condiments and restrict themselves to the same few items.

They aren't creative with their cooking
They don't have variety because for some people variety leads to overeating
They listen to these strange rules of weightloss like Miranda mentioned.
They ahve really bad diet coaches that give them misinformation.

When leaning out you are going to require less calories so you may feel unsatisfied and hungry, but it doesn't mean that your food needs to be bland borring and tasteless. Now that i eat healthier and have reduced my caloric intake i have learned to make my food taste good and be healthy at the same time.

Agreed. I'd go insane if I'd have to have the same things day in/out. I like to make my food yummy
I remember I thought weight loss meant bland and I'd eat plain chicken breast, cabbage (with nothing on it) and cottage cheese.
Bodybuilding is not weight and repetitions; it’s resistance and absolute muscle failure. It’s not quantitative; it’s qualitative. It’s more mental than physical. It’s more control than rage. It’s the realization that you can always get bigger. ~ bodybuilding

I have lots of variety in my diet till about 4 weeks out. It gets cut then because I bloat very easily and the last 4 weeks for me is cutting out the stuff that I know cause bloating for me (whey, condiments, beef, dairy (which I don't even have the best of times)
