There are a whole group of us running the wave_length diet in the Misc... join in!

    Hey everyone,

Just thought I'd bring it to your attention that we've got a group of maybe 50-100 people so far all cutting myth-free using the most absurdly easy diet ever developed - the wave_length diet plan. It's in the sticky here, but if you're unfamiliar, the plan is:

    1) Get 1g/lb LBM of protein each day
    2) Eat 500-1000 cals less than your maintenance every day to lose 1-2 lbs a week (potentially more if you have a lot of fat to lose)
    3) Train 3 days a week with weights (we're experimenting with some people focusing more on endurance too, if that's more your thing)

That's it. In other words, we are throwing EVERYTHING ELSE out the window. No irrelevant myths will be spared.

As in, we will not be following any of these urban legends:
    1) that carbs make you fat
    2) that fat makes you fat
    3) that eating carbs and fat at the same time makes you fat
    4) that your diet needs to hit a certain daily ratio of protein/carbs/fat
    5) that eating food after 8 PM or so makes you fat
    6) that you need to do tons and tons of intense cardio for ~6 days a week
    7) that eating "white bread" instead of "wheat bread" will make you fat, and "white rice" instead of "brown rice" and so on
    8) that eating sugar will make you fat
    9) that eating fructose/high fructose corn syrup will make you fat
    10) that eating commonly believed to be "evil" will make you fat, such as a big mac, or dessert, or chinese food, or cookies, or fried eggs, or so on
    11) that losing weight means that you will have to be "hungry" all day or deprive yourself
    12) that losing weight is in general very "difficult" and requires inhuman levels of discipline
    13) AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, that you need to keep all of the 12 things up until the day that you die or you will become fat again.
Of course, you will still have to eat relatively healthy because eating nothing except for ice cream for a while won't give you enough micronutrients to continue living. If you eat so much junk that you leave yourself no room for actual food - no good. But feel free to throw some junk into the diet as well - ice cream, chips, soda, whatever - and just log it towards your cals each day.

So join up! There's an emphasis here on "partnering up" - so here's a group of 50-100 people all doing this. There are quite a few knowledgeable people in this thread and it's being updated daily with advice, tips, questions being answered, etc.

DO YOU HAVE A LOT OF WEIGHT TO LOSE? Will you not be "shredded by summer" as the title proclaims? Who cares? You can still enjoy the benefits of having a supportive group of people all doing the same thing, sharing ideas, tips, studies about what really matters, etc along the way. Furthermore, if you're one of the people who has an unnecessarily complicated diet incorporating any of the above 13 myths - perhaps it's time to discover just how simple and easy losing weight is.

So stop reading this and go here: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=121897971

And one last warning: it's the Misc... so anything goes over there

Refeed time buddy... have you been having cheat days? I really think the reason I haven't plateaued over the last 17 lbs is that I have been having regular cheat days, coupled with a slightly higher than 500 cal/day deficit.

It could simply be that I am not eating near enough, you can see my stats and body image in the sidebar and for example today all i ate was. A foot long chicken breast sub with no cheese on 9 grain wheat and regular asian box from wrapper jacks (400 calories) and a protein shake.

Sunday I have a supper to go too so Ill probably just pig out all day sunday to try and pick my body back up.

I think the footlong equates to 620 and the box to 400 and the shake to 220 + milk. I think even this is only like 1300 which is most likely not nearly enough.

not at you specifically, i'm just sayin... if people would stick to a moderate deficit they would forget they're dieting and then wake up one day with abs. i dunno why everyone isn't doing that

I think I need to figure out my maint rate properly so I can actually do things right, This is a stupid question, but what is a reliable source to figure out actual maintenance rate.

the most reliable source is to find at what rate you've been losing based on what you're doing and do the math. 3500 cals = 1 lb of fat.

if you want a calculator there's one in the thread linked to in the OP, use the "lean mass" formula

look trance__dreamer, i've been meaning to tell you this for a long time... /m\ is anatomically incorrect and makes little to no sense. really what you need is \m/, to signify that the fingers are pointing outward, or even better yet, |m|, (comma included) which would be like the fingers facing you spiderman thing. not to single you out, but this has gone on for far too long already, and i would be doing you a disservice by not saying anything. that is all.

I totally think wave knows what he is talking about and I agree you only need those 3 things to lose weight. Myself I do believe you can fine tune things with some of the so called "myths" and such. They are definately not needed to decrease body fat but some of them I believe help.... just my two sense. Maybe it just makes me feel better though knowing that I am complicating things lol.

Exactly, they can be used in any way to make the diet convenient. If it makes you feel better and you can stick to the diet, perfect.

ok, edited. now nobody can think that there's any ounce of truth to them

Music cannot be fit into discrete categories! :O

I've been playing piano since I was like 2-3 years old, and then picked up guitar in high school. For the last 4 years I've been studying jazz piano at the University of Miami, and now I'm trying to figure out what to do.

My musical interest has been equally split between songwriting, composing, performing (and especially improvisational music such as jazz), and theory (like figuring out how microtonal music works - music using different notes)

So it's kind of a hard question to answer. it's my life's goal to bridge the gaps between different styles of music -- I have one foot in the "academic/theoretical" side of things, one food in the "popular" music side of things, another foot in the "jazz" niche... that is three feet motherf*cker!

Lol I've never seen this thread but this is how I lost 15-20ish pounds last year. I'm currently eating 100-300 over maintenance but when I have to cut again, I will be doing this.

It's the easiest way to stick with dieting. No stress, just watch the cals, the EFAs, the protein and the rest is good to go.
