From the MLBTR chat with Tim Dierkes
“Kimbrel 3/48. Is that the neighborhood he ends up?
Tim:
The face-saving contract is either 3/52.5, 2/35, or maybe 1/18.5. Get out of this mess with the highest reliever AAV ever, at least.“
If his opinion is accurate at all the Braves need to get in on this ASAP and stop being *******s.
You give injury plagued homo Donaldson a high AAV for a position we didn’t need filled and pass on a similar structured deal for a HOF closer to address the WORST bullpen in the playoffs last year
AA needs to be fired. Bring back Coppy and his cheating ways"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

If word got out that Kimbrel would entertain 3/$48m....there's 10 other teams that will be on the phone with his agent in 5 minutes.....i'd have to imagine Brian Cashman would be one of those calls. And there goes your odds of the Braves getting him. Probably just go back to Boston then...
If Cashman starts calling your boy Alex Snuffleopolous and got him, we may as well just skip to the parade in NYCLast edited by JIGSAW; 02-04-2019 at 11:50 AM. Reason: 3/48 LOL

Don’t be a retard, Yankees won’t be adding Kimbrel for $17 mil/yr
Likewise Boston is trying to stay under the luxury tax. Lower year higher AAV is the opposite of what they want.
Twins and Phillies would be real threats to grab him though. But let’s be real of your Kimbrel you want to deal with Kapler’s erratic pen use? Or go to ****ing Minnesota? Reuniting with ATL sounds pretty good in those circumstances.
I like our chances assuming we stop being *******s and pay that man his high AAV with shorter term"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. Math is hard tho, its $16 million .....for 3 more prime years of Kimbrel instead of the 6 he wanted? You'll have every contender calling his agent if you can score a HOF closer still in his prime for a discount and half the years he's looking for.
Say bye bye to your amish golden boy dreams.I walk amongst you.......but I am not one of you.

So we moving to two N/A slots this year?
I think we should. It deepens the league a little bit without thinning the waiver wire.

They lost their 8th and 9th inning guys..........and have done nothing to fix it. He's all thats out there......really.
On top of that...Astros lost 3 starting pitchers. And have done nothing to fix it. Both are 100 win teams that seem pretty content so far, I dont get it.I walk amongst you.......but I am not one of you.

I really think Boston is done addressing their bullpen.
Not only did they not pursue Kimbrel, they haven’t pursued ANYONE this offseason.
They, along with the Cubs, have checked out on the offseason this year entirely and I don’t think that’s changing"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I read an article about bostons $$, and they are kinda fuked right now.
Like signing an 8m dollar player turns to 16 mil or something with the taxes added on. And then i think they forfeit a pick or something along those lines as well
Their only move is to sign like 2 or 3 mil players and still get taxed but they wont be as much. But there arent many guys out there like that
If i were them id just go to the farm and call up my best guys. Theyre probably content with pushing it this year knowing jd and xander are gone next year. And mookie is the year after that
