Might be because of the possible mercury levels in canned fish, like with tuna. But yea, as stated the bigger concern is the sodium levels. I don't eat sardines often (only a couple times in my life actually) but I imagine the sodium levels are crazy high for that many servings. Good for omega 3's though!

ahhhhhhhh ok
ive looked on the tin data and it says :- sodium per tin is 0.5g
i have 2 a day so thats 1g. and the RDA is 2.4g.
Ive just done some research and it seems to be the fact that apart from mecury which is aimed at the big 3 - shark swordfish and tuna. there is a lot of industrial pollution pumped into the sea. and its toxins from these polutions that get into the fish such as sardines makeral and then into us....
still im gona cut my fish to 1 a day. so 7 a week. ...

sadines are pretty low in the food chain so i doubt they would contain much mercury.
to the op dont worry about it. food standard Australia say we should consume no more then 6 eggs a week and 50 grams of protein a day. dont worry about what they say they dont take into account athletes/bodybuildersMy are your are birds are all and one gone away the they

Even though it fits in your diet, I'm not sure its a good idea to eat two tins per day. How many calories is two tins of your sardines? It just seems to me like this might make up too much of your diet. That said, I'm not a fan of chicken every day either. In my opinion, your best bet is to get varied sources of nutrition. Mix it up some and you'll benefit.

Why not, 1 tin of sardines contains 20 times LESS mercury than a tin of albacore tuna. I have at least one can of sardines a day, it's 180 calories with 10 grams of healthy fat (olive oil + naturally occurring sardine fats) and 22 grams of protein. Sodiumi less than 300mg and the stuff is delicious + versatile and on the fly.
Some people eat up to 2 pounds of chicken a day for their protein, I really don't think 0.2-0.4 pounds of sardines with omega-3s is going to kill you.

This man has a good attitude to the topic. Listen to him.
in regard to mercury - We take in so many toxins everyday in a zillion various ways, most of which we couldn't help avoid unless we were in one of those bubble things, WITH a gas mask on and a full body suit and in some sort of toxin-proof room for 365 days a year. It's just something you acknowledge and be aware of but don't live in fear of a tin of fish or any of that.
Eat ye fish!
