This is pretty much my story, except my dad only used to drive trucks. Now he is an unemployed slob leeching off of his gem of a girlfriend and pretending that the 20 years apart had nothing to do with him choosing a life of womanizing and coccaine over having a happy family. OP's situation sounds much more promising though. I can say that, although I never initiate contact with my father, I have grown and learned alot through the experience and do not regret it. Similar situation OP. Haven't seen my dad since I was 5, he lived in Australia and now Indonesia. Found him on ******** along with 2 of my step brothers and sisters, 2 of which I've never seen in my life.
Now its like... do I make a move and initiate a conversation with him?

In the same kind of situation. Haven't seen my father since i was 6.
Had a half sister call me when i turned 18. I was out when she called back and my mother cut absolutely loose on her. Never heard back.
Found out i have about 10 half sisters/brothers.
No idea how to get in contact with them. Don't know if i want to really. I tend to think the worst of everybody.
