help avoid neck pain during my sleep-time

Ok fellows, help me out with this silly question, i need to know how to position my head during sleep time to avoid waking up with neck injury, neck pain, or stiff neck.

It seems all these three problems occur after I woke prior to aggressive work activity despite my form is always ok

so i figure the problem always occur when i go to sleep. Any by the way i do have good pillows to support my neck while iam asleep but afterward then in the morning is when i begin to find neck ache

thanks and sorry for the typo and lingo.

I get my fair share of neck/back pain, usually with headaches (old auto accident). Doing a heavy chest workout is almost a guarantee that the neck pain will come later...I'm guessing it's tightened pec muscles pulling on the neck. Sleeping on my back helps when my neck's gotten out of whack. Maybe it has to do with having the chest stretched and shoulders being able to roll back instead of hunched over like with side sleeping.

Another weird thing is that husband got one of those tempurpedic (sp?) beds and even the pillow for me, but that bed is notorious for causing me neck pain. Sometimes I'm better off sleeping on the couch or the floor.

Good luck getting a handle on this thing. Try to keep general notes for awhile on your pain situation. Include what you ate, how much water you drank, stress level, sleep length, etc. Maybe you'll see a pattern somewhere and find the root of the problem.

My physiotherapist got me onto this wedge shaped item, which you can lay on and it flexes your ribs and spine over it, thus mobilising the joints. It has helped me a lot with back pain. If you can't find one, or simply don't want to buy it she said the simple solution is to put two tennis balls into a sock, with a gap in between to allow for your spine. Lay back on this with the balls positioned just below your shoulder blades. It will feel really uncomfortable at first, but as your muscles start to release it feels a lot better when you get up.

    Thumbs up

Hey man i go through the same thing every night i try and sleep thanks to a motorcycle accident and passing out and landing on my head/neck, and after going to therapy and strengthening it a little my mom bought me a temperpedic pillow and that gratly help my neck in the mornings. and i also found that sleeping on your stomach puts great stress on your neck.

Most of the time when i get pain in my next from working out is when i do my traps or i do my back (some machines will also worke the back of your neck).

A stretch in the morning will help. You might also consider heat treatment at night as that will help release the tension it builds up during the day. I use a wheat bag myself.
