2010 is a new year and a brand new set of goals for me. I started my fitness journey in 2008 at 177 pounds and spent 2008 and 2009 losing the fat. I finished out 2009 by competing in October. Realized after standing on the stage that I lacked the mass I needed to be competitive. So, after 2 years of trying to get smaller, I am ready to start trying to get bigger!
To kick off the new year, I will be doing Bill Starr's Intermediate 5x5. Schedule will be as follows:
MONDAY
- squat
- bench
- row
- hypers and situps
TUESDAY
- sprints
WEDNESDAY
- squat
- military
- DL
- pullups
- oblique work
THURSDAY
- sprint intervals
FRIDAY
- squats
- bench
- row
- dips
- BB curls
- DB tri extension
Nutrition will be about 2000 calories to start, 40/40/20 split. This will be key in the beginning as my diet has been along the all you can eat kind the last few weeks.
Since my competition, my motivation has been really lagging. I did 3 weeks on, then 3 weeks off to have a minor procedure done on my foot. I just finished off German Volume Training at the end of the year, however I got through it out of brute force rather than out of love for my workouts.
During this time I was fortunate enough to have Rich as a good enough friend to kick my ass out the door when it seemed like I needed it. When discussing goals, we discovered that our immediate goals were the same and we decided to do embark on this phase of training together. Most of you know it, but his new journal is http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=121413701.

I was going to multi-quote, then realized how large a task that would be. Thanks so much for checkin' in. I definitely need the accountability!
Was swamped at work, so no gym. All I am doing this week is figuring out my 5 rep maxes, so no biggie. I have to bring my car into the shop tomorrow, so I will hit the fitness center in my gym for bb rows and bench.
And since my diet has been lacking:
NUTRITION
1 - 1/2 c oatmeal, 2 whole eggs, 4 whites
2 - 1.25 c nonfat cottage cheese, 12 almonds, 15 wheat thins
3 - 1/4 c brown rice, 1 c broccoli, 4 oz ground turkey
4 - 2 slices pizza
5 - 1.5 scoops Syntha-6
1918 kcal, 63 g fat (29%), 189 g carbs (39%), 159 g protein (32%)
Not great, but not bad. I knew we'd have pizza or something equivalent as we had the kids tonight and my older son had an orthodontist appointment after work. Should be better tomorrow with just Bill and I.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

My bad.
I'm bad for bingeing like that with certain foods. I ate sushi for lunch every day for about 4 months. Then couldn't even look at it for about 4 months. lol
I'm interested to hear more about this 5x5 and I want to do some research myself. I now know GVT is not for me. lol But I'm thinking 5x5 might be.DAYUM!!!

Thanks, Kevin!
Thanks! I'm looking forward to it! I don't recall where I found my GVT program. I know I searched around for a bit before I decided on one. It had a push, a pull, and a leg day. I think I made some gains with it, but it was boring as hell!
haha - I do that all the time. Except somehow it doesn't work for pizza. I could eat pizza every day. Srs.
I'm anxious to get started, but at the same time I know I need a break after the GVT. My forearm was starting to kill me. With any luck, this week will give it enough rest.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794
