My GF Wants to get a Job at a Strip Club!!! (srs) (WTF)
My girlfriend texted me a few hours ago saying "how would you feel about me working at a bar?" A little while later we talked on the phone and she told me some scumbag at a local strip club is trying to hire her as a bartender.
Just a little background, she's been tight on money lately. She makes barely enough to pay her rent and bills. It has been bad enough that she's gone without eating more than 1 meal or even just a few snacks a day at times. She works two jobs that pay minimum wage biweekly while going to school for a medical degree and is trying to move out of her house (with a roommate she dislikes and extorts money from her) into an apartment with me. So I understand her despiration.
But to work at a STRIP CLUB!?!? Even as a bartender I feel extremely uncomfortable with the idea of this. The guy who owns the place told her that girls make up to $1000 a night there. He also told her that the girls' identities remain secret and many of them wear disguises. Why the f'ck would he even mention this? Sounds shady as F'CK!
I told her she's going to be nothing more than eye candy for a bunch of drunk scumbags to fantasize about and try to take advantage of. I said that 99% of the girls who do that are whores, drug addicts with no self respect. I told her that she was so much better than that and that wasn't the girl I fell in love with. She told me that she needs the money and will only do it temporarily. I further expresses my dissatisfaction with the idea by telling her I don't respect girls like that and that she would look like a whore.
She told me she has to either do this or move to an apartment in the ghetto or she won't be able to afford anything.
My girlfriend is, despite what this post may imply, an extremely intelligent girl who is very motivated to succeed. Unfortunately, she apparently considers idiotic options out of desperation that she expects will bring her out of her debt, when in fact it will only put her into a place she doesn't belong, surrounded by scum.
As much as I hate to say it, I just lost a ton of respect for the woman I love.
What should I do!?!???

-op's gf is broke to the point where she can't afford food even with 2 jobs
-said gf is desperate and talked to the owner of a local seedy strip club who wants to hire her.
-owner said she could bartend for the guys and make over $1000 a night
-owner tells her she can even disguise her identity (strong wtf)
-op's gf actually considers this bs from this shady mfer and calls it being a waitress
-op is pissed and lost respect for the woman he loves for even thinking about being a whore at a strip club

Why would you lose respect for her because she's coming to you as an adult, as your girlfriend, to get your opinion on employment? I don't understand that.
As her man, you should have faith that she's going to go to work, do her job, come home to you leave work at work. Sure, she's going to get hit on a lot more than she would just working in an office, but that doesn't mean she's going to take their advances and do anything with it. It's a job.
She's trying to make money to support herself and pay her bills. You're not going to pay them for her, so she has to do it. I applaud her for coming to you, something she didn't have to do, instead of saying, "You know what, fukc you....I'm gonna go ahead and do this."
Have some faith that your relationship is stable enough to survive this and have some faith in her being a good woman.

As long as she's bar tending and not stripping prolly wouldn't be too bad. I understand your concern but if she really needs the money she needs the money. I would be pretty butthurt about it too.

how can you work 2 jobs and not have enough for food even at minimum wage if your that poor you can get welfare. Would never date anyone who does this most likely on the side she probably selling her body for sex. If she needs money that bad I don't think she would turn down 1-2k for some hardcore anal. Knew a girl who bartended at a strip club (fairly nice establishment as far as strip clubs went). We would go in there after a night of boozing sometimes. They did wear booty shorts and revealing shirts and occasionally got on stage to clean up things. Her and the other bartenders were pretty hardcore and didn't take too much **** from the customers. If a guy got out of line they would yell for a bouncer and the guy would get carried out. Guys tended to flirt with them, but any regular started to notice that there is a line to not cross if they want to stay in line.
I have to reiterate that this was a fairly nice place strip club wise and there are some in town that I wouldn't expect this from, but hey when you gotta make some money its worth considering. At least she came to you and asked and didn't just take a job and not tell you where it was.
