*"Soon you'll be ashes, or bones. A mere name at most - and even that is just a sound, an echo. The things we want in life are empty, stale, and trivial. So treat human beings as they deserve, be tolerant with others and strict with yourself. That's so funny but I actually had several people imagine that Superman and I were getting married this past weekend in NYC on ********. In reality, just like everybody else, you have to wait 30 days after getting the license.
But I'm not against the idea. I'm a pretty good candidate except that we don't have residency there.
And you can carry the ring, naturally.Manners are free...so use them.

Can any of you tell me something about Chicago's Market Days? I don't get much from the websites - just that it's August 13-14 this year, and the only musical act I recognized by name was Prince Poppycock. Is it just a second Pride but with a music festival, or is it something more? I'd like to go, but I don't want to expect one thing and get quite another.

came in here expecting lols.
never againWe're all children of the misc raised by the broscience of the bb.com articles. We have no depression, no a great war. Our great war is the battle with the white knights. Our great depression is our lives. All raised to believe that someday OP will deliver and post pics. But he wont....and we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, VERY pissed off.

Happy 4th of July!
For Americans, what are everybody's plans for Independence Day? It will be a quiet one for Superman and myself. We are headed to my family's lakehouse and will also be celebrating my Mom's birthday. It will be a party with lots of kids and fireworks.
Definitely in contrast to what I did last year: Toronto Pride.Manners are free...so use them.

Market Days is Chicago's Pride celebration for all practical purposes. It is super, super fun and I'm about 99% sure I'll be there this year. There are huge street parties and a sea of shirtless men to ogle. The festivities also pull folks to Chicago from all over the world. It's very popular these days.
For Chicagoans, Gay Pride [which just took place last weekend] is a bit more political and lesbiany than it is frivolous. The parade is kinda, well, awkward. [Honestly, some of those people have nothing to be pround about]
Aslo, PrideFest in Milwaukee is hugely popular.
So there are basically 3 summertime gay festivals in the area.Manners are free...so use them.

My family and I doing something very untraditional - well, untraditional for us. We're actually celebrating. A typical cookout with burgers and franks and potato salad. Unhealthy rot like that. Then some childhood favourites: rootbeer floats for dessert, and sparklers for afterwards. I used to play with the sparkler like I was Tinkerbell; you know how she did that on "The Wonderful World of Disney" where she'd write out the title of her show with the wand? I'd do that, but with my name. Then I'd make a wish. I stopped doing it when I was 15 because some kid called me a ******* for what I was doing. But we're bringing that back this year.
I'll give that a go if my finances are solid and plans are made in advance. Thanks for that info. Will rep if I don't have to spread it around. The thing I like least about the treadmill is that I can't run from my farts. -- Source unknown

That sounds nice and traditional. I love Independence Day in the Northeast or Midwest. These areas know how to celebrate. Deep South, well, they do okay but are still smarting about the whole Civil War thing. And Texas, no way...they were once their own country so it doesn't feel the same. Out West? Too independent.
But by far the worst, least patriotic and most depressing place in the country to celebrate the 4th of July is San Francisco. It is the most anti-American place I've ever lived. They truly think they are better than the rest of the country. I swear, I lived in a community north of SF in Marin County where they refused to fly the American flag. They actually used instead the UN flag. I was so embarrassed.
I hate American apologists. Ugh!Manners are free...so use them.

Wow, that sounds just awful. I can't imagine having to deal with that. WTF is so great about SF? Sure, they've got a large gay community... but is that it?
Say, have you any ideas about how to decorate on the cheap? I need the practice and don't have a lot of skill in putting appropriate and festive centerpieces together. The thing I like least about the treadmill is that I can't run from my farts. -- Source unknown

Hey cutie! Looks like there's another water skiier in the house. Except I don't use that many skis.
Going to Atlanta for a softball tournament. Darrly, are you watching! Wish me luck, I'm flying standby tonight.
OMG, ROFLMFAO!!!! Are you asking our princess how to do something on the cheap? John is many many things, but cheap is not one of them.

Actually, that was just a genereal question for the group, or else it would have been private. I like to keep options and ideas open. Isn't that what discussion is?
Unfortunately for me, I have my grandmother's taste, which means "I don't care how it looks". That's not good for me; don't I have the gay gene? Shouldn't I have some skill in decorating and style? It was never nurtured or encouraged, so I need help from more experienced guys. Wazzap Homos!
New to BB.com, and sadly to say at my late age, to the gym as well. Better late than never though! Don't know why I waited so long: LOVING IT!! Especially here in North Hollywood. Super studs abound!
Just dropping in to say "Howsits" and introduce myself.
Sadly, the 4th in Los Angeles PALES in comparison to my hometown of Seattle. All those Indian reservations and those super illegal but hella awesome explosives must have something to do with that. Plus fireworks are banned state wide in California (AFAIK). So, enjoying my 4th on a rooftop, attempting to maintain my diet, not drinking any booz since going dry a week ago and probably just having quit smoking. Should be interesting, to say the least.
I just hope I can manage to keep from becoming SuperBitch, at least for a few hours.

Sigh. Getting stood up is never help for motivation, especially when it's the, "I'll call you to figure out the time tomorrow" so you sit by the phone all friggin' day. At 5:30 PM, I decided to go grocery shopping and at Costco got a conciliatory "very berry sundae" (supposedly only 390 calories).
I txted him tonight with, "I guess we're not meeting up today. ;-)" hoping that he'd get the hint and be like, "Oh, sorry, [this] came up, how about tomorrow at [insert time]." Nada.
This is an improvement, though, since I didn't call him constantly all day to try to figure out why he wasn't calling me and thus seeming desperate. And I reacted unlike last time where I had gotten a pizza or Chinese-esque food or a pint and get chip-faced (as in pint of ice cream). My mentality was, "No, I'm not going to let him do that to me, I'm going to keep working on my body so he'll be mad at himself for not calling."
And that's how my Saturday was. Sigh.

And that joke didn't have to wait too long. The other is that guys are asses, and not the good kind.
I'm hoping he has a valid excuse. He gets one more chance if he does. Esp. because this was just supposed to meet as friends -- it wasn't any kind of sexual encounter or even a "date," really.
But in the end, this raises another question of why guys do this? I mean, seriously, is it so hard to say to someone, "Sorry, you seem like a nice person, but I'm not interested?" Or contacting at the last minute with a txt or call or e-mail or FB message (yes, we've even been FB friends for weeks) and say you have to post-pone? Do str8 people have the same problems? Grr.
