Nutrition question. need some help please.

Reading many articles relating to nutritional breakdown of the 3 key components (Protein, Carbs & Fats).
I've been doing a great job of keeping my proteins, carbs & fats into a % breakdown.
My question is, am I over eating if my target is 2500 cals per day, but burn 400-800cal per day should I be eating more than the 2500 to make up for the 400-800 that I am burning?
The reason why I ask is many articles indicate that taking in 1g of protein per lb of body weight is the basic for formula intake. However, by having the additional 400-800 calories I am adding additional proteins, fat & or carbs to my diet which I am worried could be the reason the positive gains have diminished. Am I correct or am I just lost in the nutritional struggles many of us face.

Thanks for any and all assistance provided.

Is 2500kcal your BMR or your TDEE? If it's your TDEE then no, you don't have to make up for those 400-800 calories. If it's your BMR than - I think -you should.
