put nearly 200 lbs. on my total in 6 months, and that's pretty typical of any newbie that does Westside properly. can anyone who's done dinosaur training attest to a similar degree of progress?

yes, ws4sb is based directly off it.

i'm not trying to be a dick by blatantly putting down "dinosaur training", but you don't hear anyone in this section using it as a program and becoming successful with it.

what you just did there would be the same as someone who uses sheiko (which is used by all the Russian IPF world record holders, not westside) and saying well sheiko gave me this increase all the americans use westside despite the fact the sheiko lifters are stronger, blah blah just sayin

we get it you like westside, it isn't the be all end all of strength training

to the OP, I like dinosaur training too, heavy singles with lots of volume and mostly basic exercises is how I like to do it but also with bodybuilding assistance thrown in (like westside does) is how I like to do it, kubik does get annoying quick though, I personally don't care if a top athlete is using drugs, I don't think the body needs that long to recover between heavy training sessions and working the small muscles isn't a bad thing

    1. Not all Russian IPF champs use Sheiko
    2. What you find on web-site are some of the most basic, dumbed down Sheiko programs. He never releases his top programs
    3. I've read on Russian forums that lifter has to be juiced up if he wants to get through entire Sheiko cycle alive.

From the replies,I can see that most people don't understand what is Dinosaur Training.

Dinosaur Training is not a specific training methodology like Westside,Smolov,5-3-1,Sheiko etc.

Dinosaur Training is a generic training philosophy which espouses traditional values such as focusing on the basic lifts, constant progression, hard work and determination. Dinosaur Training praises the 5x5 system as much as the singles and 20 rep squat programs.

You can say that Westside, Smolov, 5-3-1, Sheiko etc all falls under the umbrella of Dinosaur Training. So if you train Westside, to a significant extent, you are actually training Dino style as well.

Dinosaur training is versatile like the Westside template. So ofcourse you could achieve the same kind of results with that training style. It's largely up to the lifter to fill in the blanks properly to suit their goals. There's many other good exercises and ways of training out there for non Powerlifters.

pretty sure no champion ever follows any type of simple program, they generally find what works best for them I think its just that many of the russian ipf champs used programs that looked similar to sheiko.
