I just remembered this from a long time ago. I was deadlifting, and some kid came up to me, about 17 years old. He said, "I don't deadlift because I don't want to become sterile. Aren't you worried about that?"

Ridiculous advice you've been given in the gym

I am not sure I have been told anything ridiculous just the usual "Don't arch your back while benching" and "Don't squat below parallel cuz its back for your knees"
I will ponder on this and see if anything else comes to mind."Clit stimulation if your fingers are dry is not a good idea. The clit is more sensitive than the underside of a guy's penis, apparently.
Good rule of thumb: make sure you're fingers aren't dry before they go anywhere NEAR her clit/pussy.
Also, besides myself, maybe 2-3 of you have actually done anything like this before..."

You just reminded me of one!!!
A buddy of mine told me that he didn't want a six pack because he heard that in order to maintain it your body had to have a constant spike of testosterone which in turn would shrink your testicles.
This was in 8th grade or something like that. I think my memory suppressed it to protect me."Clit stimulation if your fingers are dry is not a good idea. The clit is more sensitive than the underside of a guy's penis, apparently.

Quite recently I was doing overhead squats, and some dude came up to me and explained the bar is meant to go on your neck, not overhead...
Before you insult somebody, first walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you insult them, you are a mile away and you have their shoes.

At least 5-6 times a year somebody tells me I shouldn't go all the way to chest on barbell bench press.
When I first started lifting, I was going to a personal trainer at 24 (free with membership). After a few sessions (including a "legs" day where we only did leg presses and lunges) I asked him to teach me how to squat and deadlift. He told me that those were "outdated and dangerous" exercises and that I shouldn't do them.
I've also been told that I should ONLY squat on the smith machine.Gym rat with powerlifting aspirations.

I've never been told anything at the gym I lift in, however I heard a PT talking to a fairly obese woman while I was doing squats that "you should stick to squats on the smith machine, and don't go down to far or you will hurt your knees." I then saw him point at me, mutter something, and then proceed to demonstrate that a proper squat on the Smith consisted of a 1/8th leg bend. I couldn't help but start laughing.

My friend's dad said that he didn't want him taking PlasmaJet because all of these supplements will "stunt your growth".
He then followed that by saying "if you want protein, go to bulk barn and get dried fruit"

My advice has been mostly good advice since I've begun training as I've always lifted with people who know what they're doing.
But there is this.
