This may seem pretty noob question, but here it goes:
I just stopped taking creatine mono about two weeks ago (because I ran out) and this week I am noticing a significant performance decrease (not volume so much as strength). Is it possible that creatine makes that big of a difference? (srs)

Q: I just did the hardest squat workout ever, can I drop the weight for my next workout?

Yes,
Once you get off the creatine you're no longer drawing extra water into the muscle cells. (so there's a decrease in cell volumization.) Not only this but you're taking away from the creatine phosphate energy system. This means your workouts can become less explosive and some people will feel a loss of strength.
That's the easiest way I can explain it, hope this helps.National Level Competitor (Female BB)

This.
While you may experience a slight decrease in strength, it shouldn't be huge, and you strength should still be better than it was before you started taking creatine, assuming you train and eat properly. So if you were lifting X before creatine, and worked your way up to X+10 with the aid of creatine and a progressive training plan, after coming off creatine you may be at X+8.5. Yes, it's lower than when you were using it, but still markedly improved over the starting strength.
As for not working for a lot of people, non-responders hover around the 20% mark, and some of them can be moved into the responder group with the addition of carbs and/or sodium at the time of creatine supplementation.NPC Bodybuilder, Mother and Hater Extraordinaire

So let me get this straight. You think you lost a huge amount of strength (a whole 15 pounds out of 325) due to coming off creatine... but you think the fact that you didn't used to drink much coffee, then you started drinking a lot, then stopped totally (giving you massive headaches), and this has nothing to do with it?
Let me wager that if your son had 3 scoops of Jack3d one day, then next day he goes out binge drinking and passes out and must be taken to the hospital, you'd blame it on the Jack3d, not the alcohol right? (Any relation to anyone living or dead is purely co-incidental )
My point being... you are trying to figure out what could possibly cause your strength loss... while ignoring one of the most obvious potential causes? You realize that caffeine is a huge stimulant right? Just taking 200mg of caffeine pre-workout will like result in a 5%+ across the board increase in weights/reps for some people right? So if you were to go the opposite direction and instead not take caffeine, you might lose 5%. But yes, it's almost definitely the creatine you stopped taking 2 weeks ago causing this sudden drop in weight, not the caffeine changes in your diet

i would say it's all in your head, it helps, but not that much.
