    New Deadlift Platform

Just built myself a new deadlift platform today and thought I'd share a couple pictures. It turned out real nice, I'm happy with it. I made it out of 3/4 inch osb. Should have went with plywood but it was more than twice the money. So we will see how it holds up. The rubber is 3/4 inch horsestall mat. It came in a 4X6 foot sheet and I just cut it to size. So far so good!

dam dude, that is nice, good job, does it feel different standing on wood while deadlifting than the typical rubber flooring?

Thanks man. It feels good standing on the plywood. Its triple layered in the middle and feels real dense, no give at all. So its a nice feel when I'm pulling. I work out in my barn so I just wanted to build something so I didn't have to pull from concrete and worry about dropping it gently.

It only took me about an hour to make. Just used a circular saw to cut the wood and the rubber (tore up the blade tho), a drill, liquid nails, and a bunch of srews. Total cost was about 70 bucks. Mat was $37 and the OSB was $11 a piece and I bought 3 sheets. Super easy to do and so far its great!

Awesome man! Someday I'm hoping to make a thread about do it yourself equipment. Probably the ones that are somewhat safe to make, obviously trying to make your own bar would be stupid but deadlift jacks chalk bowls stuff like that.

A chalk bowl will probably be my first project as it probably would cost 10$ to make and they are 150 to buy. I need one for when I get my own warehouse/fieldhouse/barn/garage/baseement gym in a few years ya dig?

If you are buying a full rack I recommend saving up and getting a nice one. I started to make a home gym in high school, Got a combo bench that was about 2 inches higher off the floor then your average bench with rickety j hooks to hold the bar and a squat rack by the same company that seems stable enough but the pins holding the bar tend to slide out when you take the bar off of them, and the dimensions of the cage are pretty clostraphobic, only really allowing .5-1 step back from the pins.

Don't be cheap like me, get a nice squat cage with a pullup bar on it. An idea for another somewhat easy do it yourself project might be those triangular shaped weight rack tress.
    Current Bests (raw/singleply)

    Squat- 435 / 512.5
    Bench- 280 / 308.5
    Deadlift- 495/ 534

    Goals:

    - Squat 500, Bench 325, Deadlift 550 raw at 181-220.

    - Give the recreational bodybuilder thing a solid effort.

    Mirin brah.

I wanna build one of those as well.

Just built a little platform for under our power rack in the home gym.

Single piece of plywood with some rubber I found at Lowe's. cost about $20. It's nice to squat and deadlift on something with a little more firmness than carpet.

Looks great, bud! Dad built me a small platform for deficit deads at the gym. Feels so much better pulling on a hard surface opposed to rubber flooring!
