I've been researching Arachacadonic Acid and the side effects that come from it and can't really come to a conclusion on it. Anyone have any thoughts on the safety and effectiveness of it?

I am using AA in x-factor (original) and definitely see an increase in pumps and DOMS. I am on the tail end of the 1st bottle and you are not supposed to see the "real" effects until the 2nd. All that being said, I have gone up 3lbs in a month. It is gard to say how much of this is AA and not other parts of my bulk, but I like it.
No sides btw other than some acne (mild)

I am prone to acne- and it was a non issue for me on X-factor.
AA is a good supplement- you feel extra sore and get stronger pretty easy.
It increased protien turnover in your muscles if your working out- so a reduction in bodyfat with lean muscle increase is common.
I lost about 5 pounds of fat and gained 3-4 pounds lean mass on Xfactor.
One of the best supplements I took.
Make sure you stack some test support and some creatine with it- eat lots of protien. You will see gains.

well I am 31 and your 18- so we are different.
At 18 you don't need it.
At 31- somthing live activate extreme really makes a big difference in my experience.
Your test levels are already peaking- your right your good.
I shoulda looked at your age.
That said- lots of AA sups have it in them because it works so good (Example Halodrol Liquid Gels and Universal AnimalTest)

yeah.. I did normal xfactor first 25 days and Xfactor Advanced Second half of the 50 day cycle.
I filled in with a some Halodrol liquid gels once in a while cause I had them..
I ran 1250mg a day. 4 caps.
Halfway through I learned that insulin stops the absorbtion of the Ara acid- so I started dosage with 2 caps in morning on empty stomach and 2 caps pre-workout.
that made a big difference. I would reccomend that way to take the caps to anyone trying Xfactor.
Advanced was not the impressive. I would save the money and get the cheaper normal Xfactor. Or use your GNC card at GNC... and get the advanced that way.... which is cheap enough.

AA science
Arachidonic acid (omega-6) works through a process that involves the production of prostaglandins, thromboxanes, and eicosanoids. To simplify, AA and another fatty acid, DHA (omega-3), react with two enzymes, cyclooxygenase (COX), and lipooxygenase (LOX). For your purposes, we are going to look at COX. COX prefers AA to DHA, and converts AA into prostaglandins, which are inflammatory. This is what AA supplements are intended for. However of note, is that DHA and AA compete for the COX enzyme. To maximize prostaglandin production make sure that you are limiting your intake of omega 3's, especially from fish. Fish contain lots of omega 3's but will subtract from the desired effect of AA supplementation. Studies have shown so far, that supplementation of 840-2000mg/day of AA for up to 50 days, will have no negative impact on biological metabolism. Sources listed below. I hope this was informative, and good luck with your training!
