The attached picture is from today - my waist is finally starting to lean out but still carrying weight on abs, low back and low pecks (this picture is a bit flattering for me - I guess I got the angles right). Legs and arms are starting to look lean and getting some vascularity in both. The picture is not after a workout, so no pump.
I was tested at 14.8% a little over a month ago, but I have been working hard and weight is falling off right now.
I am currently 5'8" and 178 lbs
Any guesses where I am currently at?

Thanks for the compliment about the arms...I am getting an MRI for my rotator cuff tonight (scheduled for 10pm tonight)...hurt it 5 weeks ago, and I hut my back 3 weeks ago, so I am left with bi/tri, leg machine and cardio workouts...
Since I am hitting bi/tri hard 3 times a week now, my arms are actually growing during this cut. Unfortunately, I really want to be working chest, but that is out for at least a while.

Well the results are in, and I am a bit suprised - we did 4 tests and everything was consistent between the 4...
Since the last BF test I have dropped to a total of 11.0% BF - I did loose 1.5 lbs of lean mass since the last test, but I guess that is somewhat expected from all of the cardio I am now doing
So it looks like Mrbp won
I asked about the look of my abs (they don't look quite as lean as I would expect 11% to look)) and the BF test administrator asked if I have lost a lot of weight recently and I told her that I was over 240 a year ago...She said that she thinks my skin has not yet rebounded/tightened and that can take for up to 2 years to rebound to the amount that it will.

Google "dunk truck atlanta"...it is basically a mobile RV with hydrostatic VO2 max test equipment in it - Rachael runs the test, but they move to different facilities each week. It is usually $50, but sometimes they have "specials" associated with the facility they are currently at.
I think she does go to Alpharetta sometimes - I did my first one in dunwoody, and todays was in Cobb

Great - you will really like Rachael - she's very nice. Good luck with your cut!
The reason I am doing it is to know my lean % to help me judge if I am cutting to hard and loosing to much lean. I am going to continue my cut, but I am going to up the cals and protein just a hair (maybe up the carbs a bit to to help with energy) and hopefully keep a little more of the lean.
For everyone on this thread, thanks for the fun and the support!!
>>Anyone out there know if there is a normal amount of lean to loose while cutting, ie, I lost 1.5 lbs of it over the last month or so, or should I be able, if I am careful) to retain a better percentage?

Don't worry, last year at this time I was over 240 lbs (I shudder to think what my BF was). Put in the work consistently and track your macros - you can do this!!!
BTW, those electronic handheld devices are terrible; at least the one at my gym is. After my first hydro test (I was at 14.8 at the time) I used one of the electronic ones at my gym just to see if it was close - I read at 21% - I don't think they are reliable at all.

I'm 3 weeks back into a surplus now. I made it down to about 9% at 165 ish. While I was a bit more dry looking by the end of the cut my lean mass has really taken a big jump back up. If anything I have gotten back up to my pre-cut LBM and then some. I'm in that nice post cut phase where the body fat is still coming down and LBM is on the rise. Since ending the cut my neck measurement has gone up 0.5 inches and my waist measurement has dropped 0.25 inches. I did a few carb backload cycles at the end which I think helped.
I think to evaluate a cut you really need to give it a few weeks for you body to settles into the new diet. I think there is a similar muscle memory that kicks in just like it does for guys who used to train 10 years ago. Next time I cut I'm not going to worry as much about a little LBM loss.
The mistake I've made in the past is to not give my body time to adapt to changes before tracking measurements.
