Assuming we are not supposed to lift every week of the year, how many times should you take a week off?

I've seen more gains while resting but my problem is that when I stop working out regularly I drift into unhealthy ways of eating, drinking etc...
MBA students come out with: "My staff is my most important asset." Bull*****. Staff is usually your biggest cost. We all employ some lazy ****s who needs a kick up the backside, but no one can bring themselves to admit it.
