It seems to me like you'd have to purposefully press the bar against your shins to get any noticeable amount of force from friction there, rather than just pulling the bar up. At that point, you'd be tearing your shins up pretty good and would have a bigger problem.
I would imagine he is just maintaining contact with the shins on the way up. I could be wrong though...

Sup OLers, how do you guys go about moving up a weightclass? Wanna gain weight slow but feel like lots more dedicated upper body work will be needed to put on size.. not sure whether to add in a bench orientated day with extra work or just do dips/chins a few times a week

Starting some oly lifting again after quite a long hiatus. Kept it light (though probably not light enough). Did this after some benching and deadlift triples + about 8 sets of the same complex using weight between 45lbs - 85lbs. Didn't have my oly shoes today so things felt a bit awkward.
2nd set at 115lbs (3 pulls + 3 power snatches + 1 overhead squat)
Obv have a lot of issues; slight arm bend, pretty slow pull under, etc.

@Greco
Thanks again for the tip, more than I can even say: I've started re-working my technique and bar path and my pulls are looking much smoother from the side view. I'm being patient and did exclusively technical work this morning and its paying off.
When I have enough posts I'll get some video up.

Burts Bees Hand Salve in the morning and before bed
AVON silicon glove in the afternoon and at school/work
Pummice after workouts and/or whenever I need it
Callus shaver if theyre really bad
on the day-lee
My hands need to get broken in though. Remember I just started doing o-lifts again last week after a 7 month break. Also my barbell is brand new. idk if pendlay made the knurling more aggressive on the new bars or if i just have pussy hands, but it's nice and sharpThe Long Road to Competition... president of the no calves crew checking in
my pa is 6'5 260lbs and still has baby calves. it is my curse.
Here's another from last year. Hips still weren't low enough in this one, but better. I'd been working on hit'n'catching / sweeping a bit more at this time; ended up slamming and bruising the top of my pubic bone at 185 (which was 5lbs from body weight then, too, I think) after this. brb potato quality
I seem to have a thing for jumping back in both the clean and snatch, unless I go the catapult route. I take that as meaning I pull "up" (straight) too much as opposed to throwing myself closer to the bar. would that be close to the mark?Best gym lifts: S 430 / B 385 / D 480 both C&S

I'm also aiming for 193.X next week. We have very similar numbers on back squat atm, i think.
I am programmed for 105% for a single, and higher percentages if it feels good. But I probably won't opt into any higher singles. I don't really like maxing, cause i never get in a good mind set, unless i know exactly what I want to hit.
After my next cycle my 5% increase would be at 200 kg back squat, which should be in about 2 months.
But I'm intrigued by the smolov program things, so i may give it a try. Not sure yet.
dat feel when starting to get thick solid and tight glutes
