Mass or Cut while trying to increase vertical?

Hey everyone, I've been doing plyos and working out my legs a lot lately to increase my vertical. My question though is should I be trying to cut or to mass as I am doing so? If i mass I'll get stronger faster but will also get heavier which would b counterproductive. But if I cut, I won't have as good of gains. Any thoughts on the matter?

Eat enough to let your body grow, but not at a rate which you'll be piling on fat. There is such a thing as a "clean bulk" which you eat correctly and wisely so to give your body enough to continue gains without accumulating as much fat. Gains will be slower, but it is your best road with your goals in mind.

If you put on lean mass it will be worth the strength gains. Kelly Baggett says that mass to strength gain ratio is 1 : 3. Or you could stay on maintenance level and you'd still get stronger and jump higher.
