    Old Lions Den Story

    I thought you guys would enjoy an old crazy Ken Shamrock story from 2001. Ken is a legend, but he is also bat-**** insane. I read this story and tried to imagine myself and a few of my close training partners trying out for this

    it's just the tryouts to ween out the weaker guys that aren't putting everything into it

    if you did that regular there's no way that you would last

    I think you have to be in killer shape just to even start getting it. If Ironman competitors don't get it (or at least don't get it seriously) most people will probably never even come close.

    I heard about some lawsuit filed against a Crossfit branch, but I remember the guy being completely out of shape but still doing a pretty serious workout. Most people would probably just collapse or quit before they had any issues.

    idk man, not trying to pull any broscience, but I think it's the other way around. Like if you aren't conditioned enough, that's why you mostly see it in elderly people actually. I also heard about the crossfit thing. I've also heard of Crossfitters bragging that they got it.

    Yeah Petey Williams was with the Lions Den.

    Lions Den was THE mma team back then. In 2001 Ken Shamrock was considered a top fighter, one of the best in the world for sure, his only losses in full MMA where to Royce, Severn and Fujita, and there was no shame in that. Fujita was a monster who just beat Mark Kerr and was sort of unbeaten at that point, and Shamrock was doing good against him until he had a weird heart attack. Severn was a top guy, and Shamrock was 1-1 with him.

    Yeah, Ken was pretty much just imitating what he went through to get into the sport. The stuff they would put people through in those Japanese pro-wrestling dojos was (still is, probably) just straight out nuts, and that was where Shamrock came up.
