I've been using beta alanine for about a year and a half, maybe 2 years now.
What are the long term effects of this? I take about 5g a day
I've had this weird back pain, I don't know if it's to do with this or my sleeping position.. just a bit concerned. Been docs for back pain btw and they just referred me to physio so no need to tell me to see docs

Beta Alanine has been around for quite some time with a number of studies indicating it's use safely.
The one thing is that it could be in competition with Taurine causing a Taurine deficiency. Although, none of the human studies noted deficiency (scroll down to 8.1 & 9.2 in the below link).
It's recommended to cycle the use a beta Alanine to allow cells to accumulate Taurine while "off".

Anytime you are concerned it could be something you are taking in cut that one thing out and see if you find any changes. Go a couple weeks without it and see if there are changes.
