My last shift @ work consisted of "Non-abusive Restraint Training" @ a karate school close by my place. A very trying day practicing restraint techniques, blocking punches/kicks, and otherwise putting myself through the ringer.
It had to be done. Every year I do this training for work to keep fresh. The instructor was kind when I informed him of my condition.
After this I was raring to go for leg day. It had been 2 full days without weights and I needed my iron therapy.
I also vowed to myself to do things very few would dare the the next three days of training.
Layne wrote that one's training does not need to change during prep and I intend to exemplify that.

5th place in the Novice class out of 8 competitors.
I made top 5.
part of me isn't too happy about not being 1st but then again I have to take a step back and realize I started this at 50% bf and weighed 310 lbs. 2.5 years ago.
regardless of placing. I did indeed win.
I am not done competing.
As soon as its announced I will be stepping into the open class and doing this all over in Spring 2010.
255 lbs. (and this ain't the worst of it, just easy for me to find)
This pic was taken the day I started negotiations Layne Norton.

This is what Layne and his Fiend did...
222 lbs. comp day

My name is Brian, I'm a former fattie who had his head stuck up his a$$ as to what it really took to be a bodybuilder.
I've abused my body with food for decades and watched my father die for 4 long painful years for doing the very same things.
I vowed to never let that happen to me.
I took a stand.
I took a stand against myself and normalcy.
I am not here to brag about what I/we have done.
I am here to set an example and to teach.
and to encourage through my example
Whatever your dreams are related to health and fitness, bodybuilding, or just lifting some heavy a$$ h*t
I am quite simply here to demonstrate that
it can be done.
If I can
you can.
You have no excuses.

My pics are in my profile from right after the show.
Lots learned.
-Practice that front relaxed for no less than 10 consecutive minutes.
-I didn't smile pre-judging, heck I downright scowled. I did smile and walked out my most musculars for the evening show though.
-I didn't hang out backstage, the anxiety from the others was contagious. I had good communication with the expeditor and showed up right when I needed to. This I would not change for the next one.
Props to EAS, one of their reps found my wallet (I didn't know I lost it) and gave it to the president of the IDFA. He had it tucked away safe.
Even more props to the IDFA.
An excellent show, full of supports backstage, and both the athletes and audience members raved about it.
Some of my fellow compititors stated that this was the best run show they've ever been to and they would never consider competing in another "FAME"ous comp again.
That was good to know as I was debating whether to do one with them too.
I dedicated the show to my deceased father but there were many who helped me get there.
First and foremost to thank is my prep consultant Layne Norton. We went through a lot together to say the least. He had patience and saw potential when I did not. Through him I disovered I had a health problem, we did what we could and made it to the stage.
His help was invaluable and I cannot thank him enough.
And so many in my personal life and on bb.com. Far too many to name, but I thank-you for your support.
I failed, I phucked up, but I never stopped and realized a dream.
I haven't touched a weight in 3 days and now my heart wants another comp.
As soon as its announced, I'll be doing another in Spring 2010 in Calgary with the IDFA.
Stay lean, bring up my chest, delts and back, and do whatever I can to eliminate that loose skin that hid my abs.
The last for the experience, the next FTW.
