Same here, one of the videos are down but other than that it seems like a solid workout that will get me out of the pool and treadmill and into the weight room.

This was a great post. I had been looking around youtube for videos of proper technique, and this was much easier. There is a lot of bad information out there, so thanks for making it easy.

The basics are the core to any workout plan. Unfortunately, athletes tend to forget about em once they focus primarily on lifting heavier and heavier weight. That just stupid. Another point: The biggest problem I see others doing with the deadlift is forgetting to bring the chest up sooner.

Can someone explain to me the lowering part of the deadlift? Do I use my hips to lower to the knees then from there use my knees to lower the weight down?

    Read the Deadlift Sticky.

Essentially, yes. You just do the same movement you did to raise the weight, in reverse. You begin to lower by breaking at the hips, not at the knees.

If the lower back rounds (outward), it's not good. Lower the weight and get a good inward arch going.

Do not round your back outwards when doing deadlifts or squats. YOu risk bad injur and back problems later!

I am trying to get my form down for the squat/deadlift. However, I cannot complete a proper rep of either because I believe my ankles and hips give out. It has nothing to do with the weight, I tried both exercises with just with the bar. I think I have poor flexibility in hips and ankles I believe. Any tips? I really want to get over this barrier. I tried watching videos and trying it, but no avail.

Thank you so much for this post. I consider myself to have a pretty good base of knowledge on lifting, so imagine my surprise to find out I've been bench pressing wrong for months. And that's why my shoulder is aching!!! I was apparently taught wrong years ago.

So now after adjusting my approach I'm feeling much better.

    Thanks!

So can I do all of these exercises in one day as my routine? Thinking of working out 3X week with a day of rest in between.
