    Oatmeal no good for bulking?

Half cup oats, (typical serving as recommended on the pack) amounts to about 155 calories, and once milk is added that's another 75.

So amazingly that's about 230+ calories for breakfast. I would eat more - Only thing is, this alone leaves me feeling like i've just eaten a 600 calorie meal.

No doubt about it's nutritional value but does anybody else find this stuff ridiculously filling? Maybe it's the water.

Steel Cut Oats ftw. Take a gulp of milk with each swallow and it allows you to eat it faster, offsetting the "full" feeling for some extra minutes, leaving you more time to scarf down more oats or other food before you finally feel full!
Edit - I can eat least eat 1 cup per 'sitting' and not feel full, but obviously everyone's stomach and nervous system reacts differently
    E-I-H-T now should I continue?

Half a cup of oats is barely anything for me, I could get down 700+ cals of oats and milk pretty easily. Sucks for me when restricting calories though.

If you're having trouble getting enough cals in, I'd suggest staying away from the high fibre food such as oats and have more liquid cals (protein shakes, milk etc). Overall calories will have the biggest impact on whether or not you bulk effectively.

bro buy a new appetite lol.

just eat faster...that always works. and mix oats with water so its not as thick.

and just eat alot of nuts if you cant get cals in...nuts are super caloricly dense.

Oatmeal is my favorite breakfast. Period. I cook 1 cup dry measured old fashioned oats in a boiling pan, add my eggs towards the end and cook them into it, then add some blueberries and whey after cooking. I could seriously sit down and eat an entire tub of oatmeal.
Go ahead, make fun of me being a light weight! I like me, that's all that matters.

    damn, 2 cups...

Out of interest do you guys add milk to your oats? If so how much?

I don't seem to have the same problem with blending them as part of a protein shake, but when cooking half a cup with milk/water, the stuff gets thick, creamy and very filling.

I've eaten 1 cup servings for breakfast, which still amounts to little over 380 calories.

Same here, I could eat tons and noty realize it. I just have a cup dry measure cooked, then add protein powder, or berries, or a banana, cocoa powder etc. To the op, as said above try to eat foods that have less fibre therefore are less likely to fill you up, just eat denser foods.

One thing I can't seem to understand is how some people say they are having trouble getting over like 2000 calories a day. It seems odd to me. Oh well, everyone is different

Dude I eat like 150g of dry oatmeal when im bulking (slightly over 2 cups) and could still eat more - I could honestly inhale a 1/2 cup without even realising it

    For the record - oats+coco powder=win

and yes also echoing the "I love oats and could eat 10 boxes a day" crowd

I typically use water since I like to fool myself and use those 'milk' calories elsewhere during the day.

    ^Definitely this.

The beauty is that you don't even have to buy ground oats. I buy the big mega pack of Qauekr Oats oatmeal at Costco, and can easily turn a serving into powder using my $10 coffee/spice grinder. So easy to toss it into my morning protein shake if I'm in a hurry.
