How Do I Get My Back a Good Workout Before My Arms Wear Out?

I have a real problem getting a good workout for my back because my arms always wear out before my back does.

Does anyone know any techniques for getting the arms out of the way? I read about lifting straps, but I don't really know how to use them.

    Thanks.
I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.

Try to pull with your elbows, not your hands.

Too tight of a grip? You can try learning to hold the bar with a loose grip but enough that you can hang on. Straps are really nice since it basicaly straps your hands to the bar. Googling how to use lifting straps will show you how to use them. And if you need a free pair on your BB.com order in the comments put Free Lifting Straps Please, and you get a free pair. Gotta really focus on using the back for the motions rather than the arms to pull the weight.

Not discrediting J Bo's post, just can't watch the video at work. Although what he said about elbows is correct.

The video is Jay Cutler showing how to do just that. Using straps and just hooking his fingertips over the bar.

I agree with the above posters and really try to think about using your back instead of your arms. Squeeze the muscle you're trying to target before and during the lift.

    good luck

Its in your head. you have to use the shoulder to rotate and pull the weight with your hand. ignor any motion in the elbow and allow the shoulder to rotate until your hand reaches the end of the movement.

Thanks for all the tips everyone. I usually try to focus on my back, but my grip has probably been too tight. My bicep and forearm muscles were really sore right around my elbows, and I do have a tendency to squeeze too hard.

    Thanks again!
