Why do my shoulder blades stick out so much?

I'm skinny but I think they stick out excessively. I've read that it might from an imbalance of back to chest muscles. Anyway, is there any specific exercises that will help correct my posture and change how they stick out so much?

Also, what are good exercises to help build my middle and lower trap muscles? Specifically the area right between the shoulder blades? Shrugs only seem to work the upper trap..

    Thanks.

deadlifts and rows and pullups/chinups are the best thing you can do right now for that area.

Horizontal pulls, like the above user suggested.
Bodybuilding is 60% training and 50% diet. Yes that adds up to 110%, because that's what you should be giving it. Change the inside, and the physique will follow.

You shouldn't rule out skeletal issues, as well. See a doctor that is a back specialist and see if you have any form of scoliosis. That said, if you have no outstanding spinal issues, then do your best to improve posture, and try various exercises (as suggested above) to improve things. Good luck!

Deadlifts target both the lower and upper traps. So do barbell rows if you vary the angles.
