fukked me up worse than before I went to him. I would go in and made my kinda half twist my lower body and he would press really hard against my ass and it would crack out loud and make this awesome sound and it felt good. I'd leave and go home then immediately I couldn't get out of my car for like an hour it hurt beyond the original pain I experienced from the initial injury or anything leading up to that time. So I went back later, told him what happened, he did the same thing and I went home and the same **** happened. No thank you.

Holy ****, your history sounds just like mine!
I've had back surgery twice for a ruptured disc caused initially from a football injury... I mean I couldn't even walk both times after I fawked it up. Both times the Drs. couldn't schedule me for about two weeks for the surgery, so they prescribed pain meds. and muscle relaxants. The MR's helped tremendously because part of the problem was that my muscles contracted forcefully enough trying to 'protect' the spine that they kept pressure on the disc and therefore on the injured nerve. The 2nd time it was injured the MR's took care of things so well that I thought about cancelling the surgery (until I saw the MRI that is).
Sooo... Here's what I'd do, seriously: Get some good, serious muscle relaxants if things don't loosen up soon. Ice doesn't hurt, as long as it doesn't cause you to tense. Then once things settle down, I'd go see a DC that uses the activator (little spring-loaded deal). But _do not_ go to one of the bone crusher dudes who does forceful manual adjustment to your spine. The activator supposedly causes contractions that will re-align the spine; works for me anyhow.
Ok, so you're cheap, but I'd still try to setup an MRI down the road to see if the disc retains a prominent herniation because if it does sooner or later the sucker will probably rupture w/o treatment, and then you're in a world of hurt. If it is still herniated, there are treatments out now that can decompress the spine in order to "suck" the bulge back in and allow the outer disc to heal.
After you feel better, I'd research all this because it was pure hell going through the surgeries and whatnot which I prolly could have avoided if I would have taken care of things earlier.Last edited by FadeIntoBig; 08-06-2009 at 06:00 PM. Reason: Typo

same thing with me, I haven't been deadlifting for awhile because of it. I have trouble doing rows and if I bend my back too much when I squat. The only thing that has been working is just rest and no heavy back bending. It feels good some days and I make one little mistake and my back is back to where it was. It still hurts to walk sometimes.

noted
lol, this
lol, this time it WAS lighter than the last time, but still with light weights I guess I must have really SHYTTY for with lighter weights
I guess I'm never gonna get back to my heavy, heavy deadlifting weights if I keep doing this

As someone who has had surgery because of 2 disc ruptures, I can (honestly) feel your pain, esp. with how the chiro fukked your back up even worse. The RICE method helps a little. Also try lying on your back with a heating pad and a rolled up towel or perhaps a pillow in the small of your back.

My back is hurt from years of pee-wee football, high school football, and semi-pro football. I can't do one session of dead lifts without a week of pain to follow. I just don't do dead lifts or much lower back (or heavy lower back) work.

Man you get kinda ****ty luck with your health, don't you?
Ya, I completely understand, but that one was bad enough to eff me up for life.
BTW, as it stands, I wore my weight belt for about 3 hours last night on the tightest I could get it, then loosened it a few notches and slept with it on. Woke up this morning and felt realllllly good. Just came back from the gym from working chest and my form wasn't compromised at all with arching my back so it seems the compression technique really worked well for me.
Not much back pain at all right now, knock on wood.

It sucks dick. That's the best way to describe it. Happened to me before, and on top of my back being in pain, a nerve was being pulled on causing the sensation of pain in my right leg at all times. THIS SUCKED ROYAL DICK.

everyone's back injury is different. do what doesn't hurt. I have a herniated disc. can't play softball, but can do mma. strange, but I'll take it.
