advice on a diet for someone looking to build muscle

hey, i'm 17 years old i'm 6,1 and weigh 165. I want to gain muscle so i'm hitting the gym four times a week with a solid split, but i need to work on my diet a bit. I've read that i should be taking in about 3000 calories a day to gain weight, but I dont want to be drinking meal replacement and all that crap the serious weightlifters do. Any suggestions as to how I can accomplish this goal eating regular foods? fyi i take creatine everyday before my workout and on my rest days.. thanks
