If believe you.. time under tension seems to be one of the most important calf building concepts
I see these guys put a 45 plate on the seated calf raise and fire it up and down quickly.. das not it..
One thing I do is three way calf raise on the leg press. Straight toes, out toes, inward pointing toes. Allows me to get the inner area and the outer area of the calf.

Fear leads to hate, hate leads to anger, anger leads to suffering... In one final act of self defense, the great mother earth must purge herself and if that means the death of 3 billion people... So be it. If we choose war over peace, If we choose fear over logic, If we choose to be led into war and not lead ourselves to the promise land, then we deserve hell on earth.

Three way raises are a superior tactic. The achilles tendon stores a lot and I mean a LOT of elastic tension. If you are not pause repping calf raises most of the work is being done by elastic tension in the achilles. Also, the Gastrocnemius is about 50% type I and 50% type II fibers which means that it will respond to both fast and slow contractions. However, the Soleus is about 70% type I, meaning it will respond better to slow controlled pause reps. Most people have larger gastrocs and smaller soleus muscles. Since the gastroc responds equally to both slow and fast reps, slow reps would benefit you the best.
