Educate me on GOOD metalcore

I basically listen to all genres of metal, death, black, thrash, folk, etc -- but my metalcore knowledge is lacking.

I enjoyed some All That Remains. I tried Killswitch Engage since they're one of the more popular.. liked them through their first two albums but then they massively sucked. Their new stuff bores me to death and is way too mainstreamish for my tastes.

So what's some of the good metalcore bands around?

im not up in the 'core' terminology (my def would be emo-garbage) but i heard people call carcass 'grindcore' ... as per my terminology i don't like the same b/c carcass is fantastic. Check them out, they may be what your looking for? why did i post here

Dark Ages and especially their latest album, Conquer are nowhere near "nu-metal."
Soulfly has not been nu-metal in years. Educate yourself before you make outlandish comments. And Max is God btw.

You obviously haven't listened to anything recent from them so you're basing your nonsense on old shit.
Folk metal is gay, plain and simple. I won't go into that any further. Now moving on....
I'll give you the first few Soulfly albums being nu-metal because they undeniably were. But like I said, you clearly haven't heard anything recent. Conquer is fucking ballsy, brah. It's as heavy as old Sepultura. I would link some more songs from the album cuz they're badass, but this is the only one not removed from YouTube.



Oh and sorry there's no swords, armor, elf ears, or Lord of the Rings fantasy tales in this song.

some good names in there unearth is just borderline metal though but they pass. parkway drive is also amazing. august burns red has heavy tunes but they are the worse case of breakdown whores. i think messengers has like 40 some breakdowns in 11 tracks? my roomate counted one day lol
