Day #7 - HIIT
Bit of a late update today but not a whole lot going on anyway. Did some HIIT on the treadmill for about 20 minutes, follow by some light plyometrics (squat jumps and lateral box jumps). Tuesday's are my least favorite day of the week, the exercises arn't that enthralling to me but I do it anyway just get the heart rate up for the day. It's also an off day from Mesomorph so nothing new to report on in that department. Looking forward to the rest of the week!"The gym became an arena where I had the opportunity to be a hero" - Mike Mentzer

Science
Ok, so all day yesterday I couldn't help but notice that my chest, lats, and biceps were really freakin sore! I sort of wrote it off at the time as just the normal DOMS, slightly worse then usual, but probably just the result of a good day at the gym....Mesomorph for the win! However, I woke up this morning feeling MORE sore then when I went to bed last night, and this just never happens. So I started going over the ingredient panel to Mesomorph in my head, trying to determine if anything in there has a track record of increasing DOMS. I have plenty of experience with most of the ingredients in there and have never felt like this before using any of them. In fact, the only compound I know to increase DOMS is ArA, which Mesomorph doesn't contain. Now, the only ingredient in Meso that I havn't used before is CoP, and for some reason I think I sort of wrote it off as being less then important....probably should have known better though, APS wouldn't have put it in there if it wasn't worthy. So I started doing some research this morning, as I knew virtually nothing about this compound other then it's not creatine but is commonly mistaken to be. What I found is very interesting....
A quick google search revealed this to me and I'm just going to highlight a couple important bits from it.http://www.sherdog.net/forums/f15/cr...s-info-909626/
Basically, it?s an intracellular buffer. It helps you train longer by increasing anaerobic glycolysis in the presence of lactic acid. In a nutshell, it helps you increase the time under tension during eccentric motion.
This is key because training failure during eccentric motion is usually due to a breakdown in sarcolemmal integrity and the junction between muscle cells and the nervous system (neuromuscular junction). Once you reach the failure point they can no longer communicate but with creatinol-o-phosphate your typical failure point can be surpassed. This can cause a greater quantal summation of muscle cells recruited during eccentric motion. Basically, you have greater total muscle stimulation which may lead to enhanced hypertrophy. Creatine does not do this.Theoretically, there are muscle fibers that may never be activated because lactate, and loss of sarcolemmal integrity, stops eccentric motion before those fibers ever get to be activated. By allowing a couple of extra reps in the presence of lactate and improving communication between the ****tic nervous system and the muscle tissue, your body will most likely turn to fibers that never got a chance to truly be targeted before.maintaining the structural integrity the sacolemma (plasma membrane) plays an essential role in acheiving maximal stimulation and withstanding neuromuscular fatigue. Aplodan (creatinol-o-phospate) reduces Ca2+ overload and Mg2+ depletion but more importantly reduces creatine phosphokinase (CPK) loss across the plasma membrane (7). CPK is an essential enyzme in the anaerobic production of ATP from phosphocreatine. Obviously, limiting it?s loss through an enhanced sarcolemmal membrane is another way Aplodan can improve exercise performance. In a nutshell, creatinol-o-phosphate actually improves the action of creatine in the muscles. In order for creatine phosphate to be used, sufficient levels of CPK must be present to separate the phosphate and eventually donate it to ADP to make ATP.
Potential Stack 1: C.O.P. and creatine? Sounds good to me.Overall, like "Dan," said, the importance of C.O.P. lies in maintaining sarcolemmal integrity. Under heavy weight loads, obviously with muscles contracting at such high intensity leads to the breakdown of muscle cell membrane integrity. C.O.P. acts on the basis that the cause of muscle failure is the nervous system's inability to continue signaling skeletal muscle cells while the sarcolemma is under such stress. You can have as much creatine phosphate as you want at this point, but if your CNS can't signal the muscle fibers, it's like having gas without an engine.
Potential Stack 2: Nootropics and C.O.P.? Improving the mind-body connection through two different pathways."The gym became an arena where I had the opportunity to be a hero" - Mike Mentzer

Day #8 - Heavy Bag
The Workout: Heavy Bag/Cardio
Felt really good yet again today. My overall endurance today seemed to be quite higher, both aerobic and anaerobic. I was able to go for 12 rounds today with minimal rest in between rounds; probably cut down to somewhere around 45 seconds before I wanted to go at it again as compared to the 1.5 minutes I was taking just a week ago. Was sweating my ass off the whole time of course. Mesomorph seems to have by far the greatest thermogenic effect I've felt from products in this category. Wasn't really expecting that but it's absolutely welcomed. I've also been meaning to mention that I'm not getting any kind of stomach issues or GI distress from this stuff, which is nice since some similar products do give me problems. Hitting legs hard tomorrow, going for the underlines on everything! Do stay tuned."The gym became an arena where I had the opportunity to be a hero" - Mike Mentzer

Some nice info in those quotes you've got there!
I've experienced the enhanced DOMS from this. I was thinking that a big reason for it was the cell voluminization/pump is so intense that it increases the breakdown of muscle fibers. That plus with the BA and CM, I'm sure you're training longer and harder than you would without it!Betancourt Nutrition Representative

Haha, indeed I do! I almost gauge how hard I'm working based off how much I'm sweating in the moment and how sore I feel the next day. Seems I must be working pretty damn hard on Mesomorph lol.

Day #9 - Legs
Notice: Every rep of every set is performed with the absolute absence of momentum. Momentum is an outside force that aids you in the lifting of a weight, thus reducing the force of the muscular contraction needed to successfully complete a rep. In physics, work is defined as the product of force and distance, and as athletes our goal is to maximize the amount of work we do in order to obtain the best results possible. This can be accomplished by applying the greatest possible force over the greatest possible distance. Range of motion is key.
Red indicates a super set
Underlines indicate an increase in either weight or reps since the previous session
Italics indicate a rest pause set; 10 deep breathes in between intervals

Thoughts:
Oh my god I'm gonna be hurting this weekend....such a good workout! I was very pleased with my progress in the super sets this week; was able to increase weight in both exercises and keep the reps the same as last week (with the exception of the leg curls). The lying leg curl machine at my gym only goes up to 150, so I may be looking for something else to do in the not too distant future. Again felt like I could have went heavier on the calf raises; the machine maxes out at 495 so I'll definitely be doing that next week. The reduction in lactic acid burn in my quads this week was remarkable! I remember nearly having to pass out on the leg press after my first super set last week due to the burn, but I was able to get right up this week. The only thing I'm slightly disappointed with was my progress with the 450lb presses. I really wanted to get 10 reps during the first interval of the rest pause set but it just wasn't going to happen. However, I did manage to increase the total number of reps for that set by 2, so I can't be too upset. I can't emphasize enough the amount of drive (willpower, determination, etc..) I am getting from this stuff! Every time I want to quit I somehow find the mental edge to keep pushing on and since so much of this game is a mental battle it's making all the difference."The gym became an arena where I had the opportunity to be a hero" - Mike Mentzer

Day #10 - Heavy Bag
Had bit of a rough day today, I was only able to go for six rounds. Not because I got tired but because my hands were freakin killing me. Felt like I was punching a brick wall. I'm gonna just go ahead and spend the money on a nice pair of gloves when I go into work tonight...been putting it off for a while but the ones I'm using just are not cutting it anymore. Kind of a let down cause I was feeling really good today in terms of energy and had been looking forward to the workout, but my hands just couldn't take it. I ended up compensating with a 1 mile jog on the treadmill, some light calisthenics, and some forearm work. Just gonna put it behind me, get some quality rest over the weekend now, and be ready to tear it up on Monday. Going to be targeting shoulders and arms directly on Monday, rather then through pre-exhaust work like I did earlier this week...it's always a fun workout. Day #11, #12 - Rest
Been really busy this weekend between work and some unexpected things popping up so I didn't get the time to post yesterday. I'm feeling really good today though and can't wait to get to the gym and throw some weight around tomorrow. It's upper body with the emphasis on shoulders/arms...possibly my favorite workout, so I'll be pushin it hard....with a little help from Mesomorph.
