Hey guys,
I'm looking for an effective protein supplement that doesn't contain aspatame, sucralose or any other artificial sweeteners or preservatives. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I recently just switched to the natural casein. It's a lot thicker so you gotta mix it more. And there is only 2 flavors to choose from so I went the chocolate route... if you mix it with milk it actually tastes pretty good. If you want to compare them you can always just open up 2 bb.com windows and have 100% casein/100% natural casein side by side. If I can remember...i think the natural casein has like 3 or 4g of carbs more but 9g of BCAAs.

ON 100% Natural Whey Natural Chocolate tastes better to me than ON 100% Whey. No artificial flavors, ix-nay on aspertame and the like.
It's the best sales pitch I have. I only use chocolate flavor on anything I get, so I have no idea about the other flavors.
Here, I'll make it even easier for you.

Ok so my thread was completely hijacked. Can someone suggest a protein supplement that doesn't have any artificial flavors or sweeteners? Unflavored protein powder seems like a good option but what companies make them? Aside from NOW, who I read has recalled most of their shakes due to salmonella contamination.

Can you please post scientific data supporting your statement that stevia has been known to cause side effects and is an unproven ingredient?
Look at Biochem as they have proteins with no sweeteners, and http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/opt/oatsandwhey.html also has none.

I've had conversations with chemists at a leading university.
There's a reason why the FDA hasn't approved Stevia. Thanks for the BioChem link. I'll check it out.

You should've sent me a PM if you wanted to get an answer to your question instead of whining on this thread. Do your research.
In 1991, the FDA labeled stevia as an "unsafe food additive" and restricted its import. The FDA's stated reason was "toxicological information on stevia does not demonstrate its safety." But after some heavy lobbying, Stevia was later approved. Stevia remained banned until after the 1994 Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act forced the FDA in 1995 to revise its stance to permit stevia to be used as a dietary supplement, although not as a food additive — a position that stevia proponents regard as contradictory because it simultaneously labels stevia as safe and unsafe, depending on how it is sold.
The European Union also banned Stevia in 1999 due to the mutagenic effect it had on animals during a study. Stevia is also banned in Singapore and Hong Kong.
To those who think Stevia is safe to use now I ask: tobacco has been approved by the FDA as well, do you think tobacco is good for you too?
Here is some information compiled from these studies:
Stevioside “seems to affect the male reproductive organ system,” European scientists concluded. When male rats were fed high doses of stevioside for 22 months, sperm production was reduced, the weight of seminal vesicles (which produce seminal fluid) declined, and there was an increase in cell proliferation in their testicles, which could cause infertility or other problems.1 And when female hamsters were fed large amounts of a derivative of stevioside called steviol, they had fewer and smaller offspring.2
In the laboratory, steviol can be converted into a mutagenic compound, which may promote cancer by causing mutations in the cells’ genetic material (DNA). Furthermore, heavy amounts of stevioside can interfere with the absorption of carbohydrates in animals and disrupt the conversion of food into energy within cells. “This may be of particular concern for children,” says one scientist.Last edited by xxAnimalxx; 07-15-2009 at 01:23 PM.

So, I was whining because you made a claim and decided not to back it up? Why should I have sent a PM when it was in your interest to make the case? If you are so concerned about stevia's side-effects wouldn't you want all of your friends here to know about this dangerous additive?
I did my research and found nothing of substance, I was truly interested in what your chemist friends had to say.
I agree that FDA approval (and consequently disapproval) means little.

stevia is a common herb that has been used for CENTURIES in other parts of the world without any ill effects.
the reason it has some so-called negative issues associated with it is because of our CORRUPT F.D.A.
it is pure greed and politics: stevia is a cheap and safe and effective alternative to the fda's unsafe artificial sweeteners. therefore, stevia becomes a threat to those desiring grants and patents.
the fda is one of the most evil and corrupt organizations on this planet. another perfect example is ma huang (ephedra.)
oh, btw, Supplement Direct's 19.99 5lb. natural whey protein is a perfect neutral-tasting protein.
