An old gym quite a way down the road is flipping some Olympic plates.
Does anyone have an opinion on Sampson Plates? These are in KGs. I was thinking Sampsons were top quality plates in the 70s/80s
The same gym has some that say "Standard Olympic" and are in lbs. Any Ideas what brand these are?
Sorry I don't have a better pic.

I dont recall that name.
But if they are a nice deep dish, and fit your bar well Id get them. Maybe check to see if they are made in the USA, they probably were if they are really old.
If youre picky like me, bring your bar with you when you go to check out the plates and see how they fit. If they are tight, and nice smooth finish Id get them.
Standard Olympic plates are pretty bad, I had a few 45s they were so loose on the bar and wobbly I sold them.[]---[] Equipment Crew #6 []---[]

if they are a good price then buy them. You can always use more weight.
You can also always sell them."To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. I haven't negotiated price yet. This is the second listing on this ad. They've been for sale for a month and a half.
Here is my original email reply dated May, 6:
"I have some that say Standard Olympic.
Ever heard of Sampson? They have crazy weights- 11, 22, 33, 44. I don't know the reason behind it, I just have them."
I wonder if she meant Samson.

I have some old Samson International Olympic plates. Samson with out the P. From what I can gather Samson International is a good ol mom and pop company formed in New Mexico in the 70's. Still around today, which says something to me. Geared towards highschool sports and strength training. Haven't weighed my plates to see how accurate they are, they do have some pitted spots from rust. I doubt I will let ever them go, nostalgic.
I know this is an old thread, but if you happen to come across this comment, how bout an update as to if you went through with the deal. Wondering if we are talking about the same company here. Would love to compare your plate to mine.
